Background:

From a young age, she wanted to become a military field medic, encouraged by her and her brother's shared love of video games and his small military background. She liked the idea of supporting him on the field, and how she plays Battlefield proves it to her brother.

Flora grew up in a small suburban area with a conflicted and authoritarian home. She was quiet, self-conscious, and always kept to herself. But she grows confident around close ones, especially her older brother, Maruku (inspired by my friend's name pronunciation in South Africa, so it doesn't actually have a known translation)—her protector, her confidant, the person she trusted most, and her mentor. He was more of a father figure than their own.

But in her late teens that dream started slipping away. Maruku began growing and selling cannabis to bring in extra money, no thanks to their father's gambling and drinking addiction, and Flora went along with him against Mariku's disapproval. He only allowed it as he trusts her, giving her the code name "Flora" during deals to protect her identity. For the first time, she was needed for something. The girl who is providing for people. She convinced herself that deals were doing favours for others. Like she was looking after them.

Then one of Maruku’s deals went wrong with him and the buyer. A week later the consequences caught up with her at school. In the middle of science class, a boy confronted her about his brother, who had been the buyer Maruku had dealt with before his arrest. The boy threatened her, blaming her brother for his sibling's imprisonment.

But as her brother taught her, Flora attacked the boy first, shoving him against a chemical cabinet, breaking the lock. He grabbed a bottle of concentrated plant acid and smashed the flask over her head, causing her black curly hair to turn green and mossy, roots growing out of her head and overgrowing into her neck and shoulders. Her eyes turned from brown to golden yellow. Accidentally creating a chlorokinesis metahuman. This incident got the authorities involved. Due to her country's limited infrastructure for superhumans, she was sent to and kept at the U.S. Metahuman Detention Society (MDS) A facility that detains criminal metahumans from smaller countries.

Her first instinct was to deal with women connected to cartels and mafia using food she sneaks from meal times, fruits she manages to grow from seeds she'd pluck from lunchtime fruits (before moving her to a different cell where her moss hair can't even grow) and other assets she manages to trade with. Acting as needed, answering when told. Flora gains respect from a wife of a cartel's leader and helps escape with her. She joins them for the sake of making bail money when she returns to New Zealand. She quickly became a very valuable asset to LA's most notorious cartel, she taught herself to grow drug plants on command and cross-breed different variations to sell and profit from. Her main goal now: Get the money, go home and bail her brother out.

Only to be stopped by Blonde Blazer and Invisigal during a drug smuggling job that Flora was assigned to. But unknown to Flora, she had been set up with duffle bags of synthetic drugs instead of her own work, she was a decoy to distract any heroes out to stop the actual smuggling job. Betrayed by the cartels and her mastered craft robbed from her.

She was finally taken under the Phoenix Program as a member of the Z-team. She resents heroes as much as the cartel after this day for holding her back from saving her brother and returning home.

Personality: Flora is a quiet, reserved, morally self-deceiving but considerate woman who is highly competent in what she does. She's determined, preferring things done her way and often struggles to work in a team. She's often described as "on her own buzz" and dissociates from those around her. But she is spontaneously social and bright when she's around close ones (Invisigal, Waterboy and especially Robert). She also likes to draw and draws every second she has a pen, pencil and paper during briefs.

During missions, she follows orders efficiently, but later sabotages herself for "trying things out." and following her own initiative. She gets easily distracted when paired with Invisigal (going off missions or returning to base late) but concentrated when paired with Waterboy. Her best missions are civilian events and fan meets.

Her favourite band is Gorillaz and she often listens to them on repeat when she's alone. Her favourite album is The Now Now and their self-titled album Gorillaz (2001). Her most played songs are "Left hand Suzuki Method" and "The Happy Dictator."

Her other favourite hobby is video gaming and later hang out with Invisigal.

Powers: After her fight in high school, she was given the ability to control plants. Such as summoning kiekie (Freycinetia banksii) from her wrists to grab, whip, restrain or shield things. However, her powers make her hypersensitive, causing smaller vines to act directly on her emotions, often betraying feelings she tries to hide (Curling tight when anxious, reaching out when affectionate, hair blooming a few flowers when happy.) and feels things with them before actually touching it.

She also has regenerative healing by channeling plant nutrients into wounds (hers or others), but it leaves her temporarily wilted and weaker — her powers work best when she’s calm and focused. Overall, her powers are heavily reliant on thoughts and feelings in sync.
