All in One Song Analysis!
Wow, just wow. I read the Kasa7 event right when it came out, and of all things, I was not expecting Tsukasa getting manipulated into unhealthy method acting and imagining killing his family to be one of them. Iām really happy with this event, and the commission sounds wonderful! Itās very, very chaotic (which matches up with the theme of the trained cards, I need to analyze those as well), and I wanted to do a quick line-bye-line analysis of it! Enjoy!
Before I start, Iām just gonna say that Iām gonna make a lot of leaps in logic, but just trust me, itāll make sense (or not). Also, I love parallels and WILL include parallels that require a big reach (I was able to connect Tsukasa with Curly from Mouthwashing once, written out that sounds insane).
Without further ado, itās analyzing time!
THE TITLE
To start, I wanna dig into how the title is, All in One. Now, this could be like, an all in one shampoo (like how the phrase is used there). He is taking all his emotions, and putting them all into one person, and labeling this ānew personaā as All in One (if that makes any sense). Interestingly, I saw someone say that the translation of the āAll inā part is the same as the one used in poker. Going āall inā in poker is a risky move, it means that you are betting all of your chips into the pot. Then, itās either you make a giant earning, or lose everything. This could signify how Tsukasa is taking all the parts of him, and making a risky gamble by going āall inā on everything. Itās reckless and risky, all or nothing. This philosophy, so to speak, reminds me of absurdism. In many of Tsukasaās focus songs, he has echoed the mentality of āNothing matters, so do whatever you want!ā (Ex: The World Hasnāt Even Started Yet (yes I know that is the sekai song, but since Tsukasa is a single sekai owner, it is only made of his feelings) and Filament Fever). A more refined version of this that could fit Tsukasa more is, āLife is inherently meaningless, but itās up to you to forge your own meaning.ā This would be considered a more positive take for something like nihilism, the meaning being considered Tsukasaās dream of making people smile by becoming a star. This could further explain why Tsukasa felt as though everything was meaningless during Deep Dark for Light (kasa6) in the imagined alternate reality. This is where his mentality takes a darker turn. Rather than finding multiple things to live for, he simply says: my reason to live=making people smile. This can further be simplified into: usefulness=self worth. Once he stops being useful, his will to live shatters, hence why kasa6 was the way it was. Also, for him, he decides that losing his dream is impossible, and that the world itself would have to change for him to lose it. This is a reasonable reaction for him though, because itās either that, or admit that he might fail and spiral into worthlessness, on top of lose his will to live in a meaningless void within his lifetime, and Tsukasa isnāt one to admit, or even realize things. To add, Tsukasaās entire identity is centered around being a star, and the persona that he is in 24/7 is exactly that. Without his dream, there is no persona to uphold, and with no persona, there is no him.
AAAA I just lost an entire chunk of writing to a device crash :(
Well, crash aside, this is a lot just from the title right?
Well, Iām not done yet.
All of this risky behavior is making me think of a certain character, Hyuna from Alien Stage (I told you that there were gonna be parallels). If you donāt know Hyuna is a bright person who puts her all into pushing forward. Sheās rebellious and pretty reckless. Like Tsukasa, she puts up a larger-than-life persona, and is always moving forward to outrun her own grief and emotions from the past. She can be more vulnerable, but that is only with certain people, particularly Luka. Description aside, Hyunaās main song is named āAll In.ā In it, she sings a triumphant and rebellious tune, and how sheās going āall inā to change the world, even if the odds are stacked against her. She fights to also prove that her rebellion isnāt useless, and that it means something. To add, you can see that she is trying to convince herself that her past feelings donāt matter anymore, or that she has successfully beaten them, but it is clear that this isnāt true. This contrasts with Tsukasa because he is someone who has successfully convinced himself that his past doesnāt affect him anymore using temporal distancing. However, this fragile illusion is shattered in kasa7, hence why he spiraled so extremely. To add, Hyuna is deeply selfless. She may seem like your standard āyou only live onceā type of person, but she is willing to sacrifice herself if it means saving someone she cares about. Now, Tsukasaās situation doesnāt really call for physical sacrifice, but he will, and has gladly sacrificed himself mentally for the people he cares about, and for his own cause (to become a star). They go āall in,ā gambling their entire existence on the present moment, because if they win, itās a huge victory that brings them forward. One other contrast I would like to bring forward though, is their personas. Tsukasa has successfully fooled himself into thinking that his star persona is really him, while Hyuna is painfully aware that it isnāt her. This can parallel someone like Mafuyu, who uses a full blown mask that she is conscious of and actively hates. Unlike Hyuna and Tsukasa though, she isnāt outrunning an amalgamation of feelings, sheās just masking her empty void, because she has no identity (which is slowly changing since she has set out on her mission to find herself). Also, some evidence for Tsukasaās persona, since it seems pretty unbelievable at first, can be seen in many of his focus songs. Some lines in particular, though, is,Ā
But I'm already different from you,
I have no place to return to,
From Goodbye Heaven, Come Back to Hell (heās different because he has no base identity to return to if he loses his dream), and
My imitation of someone else is excellent,
But I'm just an average person in the end.
(From the same song, itās pretty self explanatory), as well as,
The greed of an ordinary man,
Crawl to move forward,
Narcissist fools himself,
Give it your all and act like you are the brightest star,
From Mr. Showtime (he subconsciously thinks that he is an ordinary guy acting/imitating a star).
So, thereās some evidence that the star persona is a persona. I also want to add that focus songs are a direct manifestation of the characterās true feelings. Tsukasa may not be aware of all of this consciously, but he sure is subconsciously (that bit will be relevant later).Ā
All in all, the title āAll in One,ā implies that Tsukasa is gonna bet all he has into every moment or performance, treating his life like a high stakes game of poker rather than something to truly live (ties into how he views his life as a theatrical legend to write for others to view. Wait second, he doesnāt want to be forgotten, and people who are remembered have their stories told. Is he trying to make his story/legend be as entertaining as possible so heāll be remembered when he dies? (Evidence for this is in Mr. Showtime where he says, āThis is how I write the reckless and amusing legend of Mr. Showtime). This is also his way of running from processing his own negative feelings, instead viewing them as just another tool in his acting kit.
(Hi, I just had a realization about kasa7. When Tsukasa was in the flashback, there was no muted color filter overlay like how they usually put it to signify something is a memory. This means that Tsukasa was actively reliving the memory, hence why it felt like a dream, and his body couldnāt tell that the memory was a memory and not actively happening, causing his body to go into flight or fight mode, which takes a toll on the body (from high cortisol levels), hence why he was so tired and panting after. He re-traumatized himself, and thatās why he started acting āoddā after. He realized that there was a selfish part of himself that he didnāt look at, and the sheer weight of that existing completely dismantled his persona (which he banishes selfishness from). You can see when he looks at Saki right after, his eye shine dims, he has a blank face, and is very stiff, and then he politely asks her to stop talking to him for the show. The isolation did 2 things at once. First, it functioned to help him get into his role (he simulated the circumstances which further dismantled his persona since it requires external validation), and second, it prevented wxs and saki from seeing him spiral into a disassociative episode (it is implied he has fuzzy memory or emotional amnesia (no emotional connection) from the time where his eyes were empty, which is where his subconsciousness took over his body, and since he has no identity outside of his personas (older brother and star), he was completely empty and cold to wxs when they saw him in that state (but they identified it as soley being because of method acting and character bleed rather than his persona turning off, which is why Emu wanted him to āsnap out of itā). Note that their intervention doesnāt fix him, it just gives him the groundwork for his persona to come back. He was literally going āDonāt speak to meā with no light in his eyes 5 seconds before he was yelling āwonderhoyā with the troupe. This showcases his extreme compartmentalization skills, which he has used in earlier events to get out of a role. I have more to say, but Iāll end this tangent off here (itās gonna be relevant for the lyrics).
With the title analysis out of the way, letās get into the line-by-line lyrical analysis!
THE LYRICS
(Iām using an old translation that got taken off of fandom, so it may be inaccurate).
I can hear it! But has your voice now
Turned into a curse...?
This could be any external factor that cheers his dream on, like WxS, Saki, Toya, etc. those voices that founded his dream now become suffocating.Ā
I can't take any of it anymore, I just want to refuse those expectations and the like
Because I can't live up to a single oneĀ
He may be referring to how he canāt live up to his own perfectionistic standards because of how high theyāve gotten. Another interpretation is that since Tsukasa has time and time again achieved his own freakishly high standards, WxS and the people around him have adopted those standards into their perception of him, and he feels as though he is falling short of them. This leads him feeling useless, and one of his biggest fears is becoming completely useless (shown in kasa6).
(Also side note but this reminds me of the line āI want to meet your expectations,
But my heart is gradually withering and dying in the processā from Mafuyuās Nihil-San. The difference is that Tsukasa wants to refuse his expectations, while Mafuyu wants to live up to them, but both are motivated because they canāt reach them).
My heart is so noisy it's poisonous, I wish it would shut upĀ
Oh wow. I wasnāt expecting them to bring back the āitās too noisyā sentiment from The World Hasnāt Even Started Yet, āThere's too much noise, so much noise and it keeps getting worse.ā His 10 years worth of repressed feelings are too noisy for him, and it āpoisonsā his act, so he wishes that that part of him would shut up. He hates his own, votive feelings.
On my hands and knees, worn out, I want to disappear alreadyĀ
Ok so this line I really wasnāt expecting, his subconsciousness is finally admitting that he truly wants to disappear, heās finally admitting how exhausted he is from keeping everything up (a persona that loud is bound to take up a lot of energy, and he wears it 24/7 even when alone, because he thinks that the persona is him).Ā Heās completely worn out, heās on his hands and knees from the sheer exhaustion of his act, and he wants to disappear. The āalreadyā makes him sound impatient as well, like heās annoyed that it hasnāt happened yet because he has no āexcuseā to yet (if that makes sense).Ā
(Also another Nihil-San parallel! In Nihil-San, Mafuyu sings, āBecause I don't want to disappear just yet.ā She started out wanting to disappear, and thanks to N25, she now wants to move forward, no matter how painful it is. On the other hand, this is the first time that Tsukasa has ever said this, he started out not wanting to disappear and now he does).
Even so, you aren't aloneĀ
Take my hand that I reached out to you
Even 'til now, no matter how many times,
I stood back up and came to this point
This has a heartwarming meaning on the surface. This could be Tsukasa replaying the words of reassurance from WxS and his own positivity in his mind to force himself to live a bit longer, and to convince himself that, no matter what happens, heās gonna stand back up and fight longer, and he has WxS to support him (insert phoenix line from tondemo wonderz). However, with the next lines, that illusion shatters completely.
(To add, he is commonly associated with a cube, which can be a box, and in the mv, there is tape on the words. His bandaid here is just plastic package tape. He is sealing the box shut.)
(Also, in combo with the next line, these words could be the ācurseā he was talking about in the beginning. He wants to stop, but he just canāt because the people around support him with so much love.Ā
To add, in Nihil-San, Mafuyu says āYour well intentioned love hurts me, but I pretend I'm fine/I'm tired of it alreadyā¦ā Now, is WxS as bad as Mafumom? No! But here, the āwell intentioned loveā only acts as a temporary fix that traps him, moving him further and further away from healing).
Juuuust kidding! The bugs eating away at my heart are
Ok, so the song takes a dramatic shift in tone here (it sounds metal and I love it). Emu saying how heās ājust kiddingā could show how, subconsciously, Tsukasa IS aware that wholesome phrases and temporary bandaids arenāt gonna get him anywhere. (What kind of ticks me off is the fact that sometimes Pjsk shows the power of friendship solving problems that canāt be fixed in a single conversation, so I am glad that this was dismantled). The words he was saying in his head consciously, he subconsciously was like āyeah thatās not gonna cure over a decade worth of repression and structural disassociation.Ā
Growing, growing, 'til they were fully raised
The bugs heās referring to might be his buried feelings and trauma. Those feelings have eaten away at his mind from the inside, and in kasa7, we just hit a glimpse of the extent of repression heās dealing with subconsciously.
I ended up on the wrong path with just one step
This line is interesting because the path and one step can refer to multiple things. On a small scale, it could represent his direction in kasa7. However, he might be referring to like, the path he has taken in life, which would add a whole new layer to his character. In Filament Fever, he explicitly talked about how heās actively burning out, and we can see how becoming a star is bringing him more pain if anything, but he canāt stop now; heās come so far (god the Curly parallels are so strong here). The āone stepā could be the theatre show he saw as a kid that changed his entire personality. If he hadnāt seen that, he wouldāve taken a much different path.Ā
I wanted to also add that this isnāt the first time heās talked about not liking what heās doing or who he is right now. I didn't bring it up earlier because itās a cover, but in Fixer, he sings with Rui,Ā
āI never wanted to end up like thisāĀ
(Also the lines he sings before this are more proof of his persona, but I wanna focus on this line). I think for Rui, itās pretty self explanatory (heās talking about the past in this song). For Tsukasa, combined with this line, he could be feeling regret over the path he took, but just runs as fast as he can to ignore those feelings because he canāt turn back now.Ā
But I can't erase that; I bury myself in a pillow and flail aroundĀ
This basically confirms the fact that he canāt turn back, so he buries his regret.
Also, I wanted to add that Tsukasa doesnāt really fight against what has already happened (like in Our Happy Ending, he lets Emu do what she wants, even if it pains him). This probably stems from Saki as well, because itās not like he could magically change her condition, and itās not like she herself had any control over her condition (this ties in to the lines in kasa6 about shows not being able to cure illnesses).Ā
Covered in shame,
"I've had enough of this" I cried
That miserable face...Ā
Here, his crying child version shows up in the mv, showing how he looks down on himself for having these emotions (also the tone of the song shifts again, itās calmer now. Maybe the metal being an āanomalyā could show how both he and WxS views his true self, an anomaly that needs to be fixed. (Also, WxS didnāt have the context that he was digging through trauma and re-traumatized himself. They donāt know that his star persona is even a persona. When they try to āsnapā him out of it, look at some key words they use. Emu says āI can imagineā¦ā Nene refers to him as āThat Tsukasa...ā (Rui does too in his side story), Rui refers to his state as him being in the grip of āmadness.ā Tsukasa hasnāt given them enough info for them to even know whatās fully going on, which leads to the misconception that heās too deep into the method acting (which he is, they just donāt understand why), and that this is only character bleed and a symptom of overworking. They get it half right, but the issue is that he used his trauma, which sent him into a disassociative episode, which dismantled his star persona, and revealed his 10 years of repressed feelings). Also, he states that he āselfishly felt anger, no, hatredā towards Saki and his parents for forgetting him, a normal feeling for a child to have. Feelings arenāt always right, but that doesnāt mean that you shouldnāt process them. Acknowledging and weaponizing =/= healthy processing.
That's me. I might be replaceable,
He thinks that he, at his core, is ordinary, so he thinks he can be replaced by any other guy. (Now, this isnāt true. The sheer amount of problems he has alone makes him incredibly unordinary. In a way, maybe he realizes that, so maybe thatās why he avoids processing his feelings as well, so he wonāt become ordinary and āreplaceable.ā Once again, even if he heals, he wonāt be ordinary, but you get the gist of it).Ā
That's me. But I'm the only one here
This could refer to how he is emotionally alone, and in the past he was constantly left alone. He could also refer to how he is the only one who has the full context of his life (idk Iām just rambling).
That's me. And if that's how it is,
If that's how it is!Ā
He is going full on absurdist now. Heās saying āOk fine! I realize I am ordinary, replaceable and alone, but I donāt care!ā
Go and embrace everything,
Even your hope, even your despair
Smile, dirtied as you are,
Nice to meet you, I'm all in one!
Heās saying that if he is alone, ordinary, and replaceable, he will embrace everything. The good, the bad, the ugly, he will take all those volatile emotions heās repressed for 10 years and throw it into his new persona. (Looks like healing on the surface, but it isnāt when you dig a little deeper).
Heās making a reckless bet. Heās going āall in,ā whether it be a performance or his daily life. Heās greeting us with his new persona, no longer the star (which was dismantled in kasa7), but as an all in one container of just, everything. This also makes him different from Mafuyu, who feels numb and nothing and cherishes any emotion she feels, he feels everything, and bets that all on external forces to keep himself running.
(Also sad piano is buried in the back)
(The instrumental is glitchy and the chart is too.)
We aren't similar to the gods, are we?
Ā I feel like he would look down on religion and god because of his trauma and how much everyone in his family suffered (especially saki).
With our wounded hearts
His heart was being eaten away by bugs earlier, and now heās taking his wounded heart and placing it in his betting system. (Also this reminded me of Enaās With Our Wounded Hands. Enakasa parallels keep on growing (in that event they were compared by Rui as well)).
(Also, yes another Nihil-San parallel. Mafuyu says, āSo fill up/My dry, dried-up heart.ā Her heart is dried up, and N25 rehydrates it with their love and support. Tsukasaās is actively dying and bleeding).
Bring all your surplus too
Surplus is having more of something than what is needed or used. It's basically excess. Heās taking any excess energy he might have, and betting that as well. He is doing this because he has nothing left to lose.
And go all in, I'm all in one!Ā
The new all in one identity feels very reckless. Also, the song abruptly cuts after this note. No iconic fakeout (where the song goes completely haywire), no long note, no visual after, just an end. It also glitches out at the end as well. This could represent how, if he loses his bet, then there is literally nothing left for him to give. No note, no song, no pose, just⦠nothing.Ā
LITTLE NOTES
This section will be mostly like, just things that tie in that I noticed.Ā
MV
The MV shows a lot of glitching and the use of lighting is interesting. The beginning parts of the song are in darkness, while WxS and the end parts are in the light. Also, Tsukasa is very isolated in this song, both visually and in the actual story. The glitching could represent how he is unstable and is finally starting to crack. To add, there is a lot of black specks everywhere, which is likely the static that you can see in old movies and stuff, like the 20s. The fact that itās all black could represent how the darkness from the earlier parts of the song are not gone, just relocated.
TSUKASA AND THE ROARING 20S
Stretch time! Gonna be reaching here. So, the static and glitching reminded me of the 1920s in America. Now, this seems nonsensical at first, but this isnāt the first time that Tsukasa has referenced this time period. In Filament Fever, it has a very swing kinda melody (and the time period here is the Showa (I think), which is reminiscent of the 1920s in America). In Filament Fever, the og mv also has the same kind of glitches appearing. The black paint? at the top of the screen also appears in both All in One and Filament Fever. Now, what does this have to do with the 1920s? Well, Tsukasa is very much like that time period. The 20s were just after ww1, and many people were traumatized from the war. Basically, āPeople in the 1920s coped with the aftermath of World War I by throwing themselves into an era of unprecedented consumerism, mass entertainment, and rebellious youth culture.ā Many people were also disillusioned and wrote books about their feelings. It was also the same time that the āHarlem Renaissanceā and Hollywood also came to be. (Also worth noting that this is also known as the āJazz Ageā because of the rise of jazz (Filament Fever has jazz elements).
Ok so how does Tsukasa embody that? His āwartimeā could be when Saki was fighting for her life in the hospital. Now that thatās over, he puts his all into becoming a star and fulfilling his dream to make people smile. He copes with his past by frantically moving towards the future and suppressing his past feelings. One thing he does the most is entertain. In the 1920s, entertainment had a huge boom. Movie theaters, Hollywood, music, spectator sports, and broadway all contributed or had a huge boom in popularity. Tsukasa indulges in most of this, never letting a dull moment be there when he is in the room.
(Ok so this section makes no sense so Iām gonna move on).
CHAOS AND MINOR KEYS
The overall song shifts vibes like, 5 separate times within 2 minutes. To add, the theme for the cards was chaos (and Tsukasaās card is literally called āChaos that Burns the Bodyā). This could represent his mental state, and how his illusion and stability falls short when you peer into his mind.Ā
The song during the melody specifically deceives the viewer by making them expect the song to continue in the major scale, but then subverts this by adding a minor (or flat accidental) note. to add, underneath all the noise in the main chorus, there is a rather sad sounding piano (Some pasted from my other analysis). In music, minor keys usually give off a sad impression. The sad piano that is also played in minor key being buried by all the noise during the chorus shows how he represses his past, but itās starting to bubble up now and his defense mechanisms are shattering. This further supports the idea that he hasnāt healed, only weaponized his own trauma and used extreme compartmentalization to make the illusion that he has healed.
All in all, this song is jam packed with new ideas and symbolism, and Tsukasa is probably gonna only get worse from here. Heās a gambler whose only move is to go āall inā in poker, because he has nothing to lose. He bleeds for his craft, but never patches the wounds. I said this in a different post, but acting isnāt therapy. He isnāt properly processing his emotions, something thatās done in therapy, and puts any trauma in a ready made box that he can open and use later. Heāll tape it back up using the love his friends give him, to give him a reason that he should happy and be a star, to give him a reason to not introspect (also the part of his brain that does that is fried, but Iāll get into his neurology some other time if Iām not lazy).Ā
Anyways, thanks for reading this 4000 word over analysis of Tsukasaās 7th focus song āAll in one.ā
Have a great day/night!
I am actually so impressed you took the time to analyse this entire song.
This was so worth reading and yes I agree, acting isn't therapy and can lead to alot of complications and mental health issues in the near or far future, I would hope Tsukasa doesn't get worse from here as it would most definetely not be a pleasant event to read however we all know it's gonna happen.
Depending on if SEGA chooses to announce Nene7 as the next Wonderlands X Showtime event it would probably be a follow up to Kasa7 or possibly more of Nene's experience with Sakaki. We had a similiar sort of event like this in Nene6 as it was a direct follow up from Kasa6 with the whole BlessHeart story which was very interesting because SEGA isn't the type to usually make events that show OTHER characters perspectives from different events.
For example Ena5. Ena5 was the follow up taken a week after Mizu5 where Ena was struggling and gradually getting more and more worried for Mizuki as they had not been contacting anyone from Nightcord recently.
Perhaps Nene7 could be a little like that too where Nene would maybe try to invest and possibly get a little more information on what Sakaki 'truly' wants them to achieve, or the other possibility being that like I had mentioned earlier, we will see what Sakaki had put Nene through during that time of events.
In Kasa7 we know Sakaki had used a similiar method to Tsukasa with Emu and in the process made her very upset and even cry.
However if I recall, ( and do take note I have not read Nene's side story so I am not comepletely sure! ) we didn't get any or that much information on what Sakaki had used to get Nene to that state or to push her to a certain point where she'd have possible troubles in regards to her health. ( Sorry if I worded that wrong it's a habit! )
If Nene7 does end up being a direct follow up of Tsukasa's 7th focus, we'd also have the possibility of seeing more of how Sakaki really can be when he get's too involved and how that could effect her.
Now, the possibility of the next Wonderlands X Showtime event being Rui's is still quite fuzzy and possibly a little more complicated.
I say this because there are two ways it could go.
The first being that the event could also be a direct follow up from Kasa7 and it being that we will get any information on if Sakaki did something to Rui during that time period, ( which I have my doubts on ) or the second option being a whole different event where instead of Sakaki being the main NPC or climax character, it'd be Asahi. However I have a feeling Asahi won't be coming back till Rui8 due to the timings.
So that being said, personally I think Nene will-be the next Wonderlands X Showtime event due to the certain dates and also because of the World Link 3 part 4 taking place this July.
Of course however! Rui could have a chance of getting his 7th focus aswell as Nene's Bloomfes is this month too. Also, we do know from for example Tsukasa that SEGA will just give certain characters events or cards no matter the rate so there is still a small percentage that Rui7 is the next Wonderlands X Showtime event.
I apologise for the rant and like I said, this is a very great and well detailed analysis and I wanted to give my kudos!
Have a lovely day. :)
Oh thank you! I love the long comment you left! I personally would prefer if they lowkey played the long game with Tsukasaās mental state, where they show him slowly deteriorating and eventually just crash (because Tsukasa is very mentally resilient, the entire cast is really). For Nene, in her side story she wanted to incorporate what Tsukasa was doing into her routine because his acting got really good, so we might see some of that in Nene7 (I would like to see Neneās pov of the experience as well).
Honestly, Iām just really excited to see where they go with the WxS story, because itās becoming very interesting. Also, Tsukasa is general in just such a fascinating character when you really dive into his psyche, like the man is a ticking time bomb.
(Also, I want to see where they will take Rui next as well, since at the end of kasa7, he regretted not being able to unlock that much potential in Tsukasa, but also was concerned by his mental state during the event, and was worried by how far heās willing to go for a show. (Also Rui is notorious for overworking himself, so thereās some irony in that).
Have a great day!
Yes yes I agree! It'd be very interesting to see just how far SEGA is willing to push the barrier and Wonderlands X Showtime in general!
Also thank you for explaining a little of what happens in Nene's card story because like I mentioned I have mot read it haha.
If our predictions were correct and Nene is the next event then I'd really like it to dive more into what Sakaki had done with Nene because theres no way he only went for Tsukasa and Emu during that event so it'd be very interesting to see what happened to her.
And again I agree! Tsukasa's mental state certaintly needs to be studied more however I personally wouldn't want SEGA to overdue it as I am not a big fan of characters pushing themselves too far. For Rui it is a little different if we consider the fact he is implied to be neurodivergent and as an autistic person myself I do have a habit of overworking and forgetting to take care of my physical health.
But yeah I do think SEGA should study more with Tsukasa..though..you know..I would like a happy event with Wondershow...for once in a year........but they hate us so nope!šš
Have a lovely day to you too!
I do really wanna see how they go with WxS aaaa.
I kinda hope that Nene7 is her side, but maybe it might be a happy/hopeful event where Nene gets even better at acting and singing in a good way! I think it would be interesting if they did that to add more contrast to Tsukasa and Nenesā approach to things and how they are growing.
For the Rui thing I do agree thatās itās different. And I wouldnāt want them to drag Tsukasaās arc out for like, 6 years again. I think it would also be like, a cool thing if Tsukasa and Kanade were the only characters to actively get worse while everyone else gets better, because it creates a cool contrast with the other characters in the game. Happy WxS is heartwarming tho I want another super chaotic event.
(Also, I just watched the full version of All in One so Iām gonna get working on analysis of that too because the Nihil-San parallels are strong).
Thank you!
Kasa7 Card Analysis!!
I was not expecting this (well I lowkey was) and now Iām gonna analyze it poorly bc it comes out tomorrow!
CARD ITSELF
So the card looks like heās having a panic attack (dilated pupils, shaking, double vision, blurred background). To add, he seems to be in his casual outfit at home. This could take out the possibility of it being a performance like kasa6. To add, in the event description, it says that the performance itself went fine, but Sakaki thought it could be better. Now, there are 2 factors that could cause Tsukasa to act like this. 1. Tsukasa hearing that he didnāt do his best could trigger his perfectionism, he would feel as though he didnāt take full advantage of the present moment. However, this time, it would be his fault and not someone elseās. 2. He method acted the character, and the experience of the character closely mirrored his own. This allowed his performance to be very raw and realistic. However, when Sakaki said that it could be better, it made Tsukasa feel subconsciously invalidated and that his work was for nothing. Another possibility is that the new draft that Sakaki revised aimed for Tsukasa to have a similar level of emotion as the kasa6 performance. However, instead of him āsafelyā getting out of character/compartmentalizing (I have a whole essay on his method acting) while practicing in his house, the trauma he digs up causes his to spiral because it is something that he had hidden away before (via selective amnesia). Combine this with how dazed he was during the kasa6 performance, and he might be finally be facing the consequences of his own actions, all finally triggered by Sakaki invalidating him. This would cause Tsukasa to have a panic attack and might face some of the symptoms of chronic character bleed, depersonalization (which is why heās looking at his hands), and a psychotic break (or nervous system overload). To add, you can very faintly see some eyebags, which are caused by a lack of sleep. Hmmm, I wonder who trained until they had nightmares in kasa6. Also, leading up to the breakdown, he might experience disordered sleep due to his unexpressed and unhealed trauma. (Some of this has been addressed in my previous essay about Tsukasaās method acting, and another one I have). All in all, this is all I have to say about his card so far (wait also he might be alone in his house which could further trigger him) (also I just realized he looks really confused, so something triggering him to have a panic attack or a psychotic break seems pretty likely).
THE EVENT NAME
Ok, so Iām not sure what Phantom Maze Monster could mean, but I do see a connection. First, the monster could reference his role from Rui5, but Iām not sure why they would do that (maybe itās because Sakaki is also critiquing Rui, which could lead to his card name). Second, this could reference kasa1 (and this event seems to be referencing kasa1 a lot (the cube from the trailer). How it references it is by clashing 3 words together in a way where it makes sense, but it isnāt a proper sentence (Wonder Magical Showtime). That event, he had to sacrifice his own desire for the greater good of Emuās wish to save the park. However, you can see how much he sacrifices for roles now, so what if he sacrifices more of his mental health for the troupes safety from Sakakiās expectations?
THE EVENT TITLE DESIGN
Now this is the part Iām looking forward to. The titleās design shows Nene, Rui, and Emu being connected and holding hands (the opposite on the other side, but Rui is in the middle regardless. Maybe this could show how close they are). Tsukasa is the one shining the brightest, but he is also the most isolated (not holding hands). To add, it references his kasa3 card. How? Well, in the makeup in the kasa3 cards, everyone has a star on their face. However, Tsukasaās drips down into a tear because, on the inside, he doesnāt view himself as a star (even in his focus songs he refers to himself as an ordinary man pretending to be someone else. Ex: ānarcissist fools himselfā āthe greed of an ordinary man: crawl to move forwardā āmy imitation of someone else is excellent, but I am ordinary in the endā āI wish I could be more like youā (Iām quoting from memory here). To add, it is already confirmed in the Toya/Rui area convo that Tsukasaās personality is just a persona (whether it be his star, leader, or older brother persona, they all lack one thing: true selfishness. I could go on about it, but Iāll leave it at that for now. However, what makes him different from someone like Mafuyu is that he genuinely believes that that is him, his true self. But, in kasa6, it is revealed that with his dream of making people smile, he has no identity. This can also be seen in his focus songs (āIām a utterly hopeless personā again quoting from memory), leading me to believe that he subconsciously knows he has no identity (āIām already different from you, I have no place to return toā (referring to if he loses his dream)), but consciously doesnāt know this. This could also be the reason why Emu doesnāt/wouldnāt suspect anything, his joy in entirely genuine, so she has no anomaly to identify (unlike Mafuyu). Anyways, that is what the dripping star means, and itās burning brighter than the others, but itās also crying. Unlike the jester makeup, the tear fully falls into the water. However, in the card art, smoke obscures it from the rest of wxs from seeing it, leading the silhouette to look like a crown. You know who else has a crown? The kasa1 card! He might hide this and channel it into his new performance, leading wxs to believe he is just growing even more as an actor, obscuring them from looking at how he is falling apart as a person.
EVENT TRAILER
I donāt have much to say in this section (again, Iām going off memory here).
The trailer had a lot of purple spikes and other colors, so maybe this could be how Rui might be harsher with Tsukasa in order to deliver the perfect performance? What stands out is the fact that barely any of the wxs colors show up, and the fact that the trailer is so⦠neon. Like instead of a slow depression, he goes full on manic to drown out the fact that heās breaking (if that makes sense). To add, a saturated red-orange (a distorted version of Tsukasaās color) takes up most of the screen. However, behind it there is a starkly grey background (reminiscent of the empty sekai color). There is also a cube at the end that is a reference to the kasa1 song 2d mv AND the kasa6 mv (they sit on a cube in there). The colors in the cube are also very bright and feverish (wait, fever, like filament fever. Maybe he will go fully manic in this event who knows)? Also, at the end, the box under the text inverts the colors I think. Anyways, Iām finally gonna address the elephant in the room and talk about the glitches. The trailer glitches out and shows blackness (not neon colors like traditional, cyberpunk like glitches). Also, the card seems to have a slight chromatic aberration, which it you donāt know, is commonly used in art to make glitches (itās 3 colors that go out/side to side). In the trailer, that glitches could represent this scene, and it going back to normal could represent how Tsukasa, being a master of compartmentalization, will shove his emotions away (suppressal and might use temporal distancing like he usually does). However, his broken psyche and hidden nihilism (ok this sounds like a massive stretch but trust me itās not, kasa6 (both song and event) hints at it and in the sekai song, it hints that he has a very absurdist mindset (the belief that everything is inherently meaningless, but you can forge your own meaning in life (refers to his dream, which is incredibly restrictive because instead of having multiple meanings, he only finds one, big meaning to live by. This is why his alternate reality was the way it was)), might leak out in an unscripted line, alerting wxs in a slight way. Ok, I think this is all I have to say about the trailer imagery itself (wait nvm. The trailer shows an explosion, so maybe it represents the his mental state might explode at first, but then slowly continue to fracture further in future events. Also, I think in filament fever, he says something about being ābeyond saving,ā and in Goodbye Heaven, Come Back to Hell, he states something about one scar being a fair trade (which normalizes his pain, also referenced in Filament Fever when he says that wounds wonāt have any pain), and that āif you can live like this, then I have nothing to complain about.ā This could show how his subconscious is a second person/voice of sorts (which fits with his potential future identity break), saying how, if his conscious mind can handle everything heās doing, then he canāt complain about the āhellishā way heās living) and that he is subconsciously already aware about the damage that has been done, and this event will be kind of a point of no return.
INTRUMENTAL
Ok so the commissioned song is by Wada Takeaki (I love his songs)! Now, heās made My R, Trash and Trash, Show Off, and more. Show Off is for the famously angsty Saki3 event, No Seek No Find. Also, during an interview once, someone asked why he didnāt make the song more joyful for Saki and he said something along the lines of: āIām Wada Takeaki, I donāt make happy songs.ā So, that confirms that the song will be very revealing and not filler for Tsukasa.
Now on to the instrumental itself, it has a funky sounding main motif (I like it). To add, it sounds like itās building up to something, before going into the main guitar part. It also deceives the viewer by making them expect the song to continue in the major scale, but then subverts this by adding a minor (or flat accidental) note. To add, Tsukasa songs are often very continuous, offering little to no break, or just very high energy. Now, underneath all the noise in the main chorus, there is a rather sad sounding piano. This could further support my theory of him suppressing his own trauma, realizations, and break, burying it under explosive energy and brightness.
In conclusion, I donāt think kasa7 will be filler, but I do think that it will be an event that worsens his already deteriorating mental state, and he will isolate his own feelings because of his high affection - low attachment way of loving people, which is fundamentally unsustainable.

Method Acting and Tsukasa: An Analysis
Method acting is seen tirelessly throughout Tsukasaās focuses, but how could this possibly affect him?
Today, I wanted to analyze how Tsukasa may be affected by method acting, due to his recklessness in using it, and potential causes for it.
This is my first ever analysis (and I lowkey wrote this on a whim), so let me know if there is anything I could improve!
First, letās see what method acting is. Method acting is a form of acting in which the actor immerses themselves into a character using their own personal experiences and emotions. It also requires FEELING and BEING in the moment, rather than anticipating your next lines. It requires understanding the character on an emotional level, and being able to effectively improv said character. Iām no acting expert, so I might have an inaccuracy. That being said, the whole ābeing in the momentā and seeing WHO the character is in order to ābecomeā them is shown constantly in Tsukasaās story. An exercise many people do may be to is improving what character might do before a scene, which is explored in kasa4 a bit (that was more building his own character though). Additionally, this can also be seen in kasa2.
Alright, with the basics of method acting out of the way, I wanted to touch on the psychological impact. When acting (but especially in method acting), some areas of the brainās prefrontal cortex are āsuppressedā in a way. This leads to the actor, when acting, to suppress their true selves. Too add, and this point Iām really excited to get into, there is a possibility that the actor may get too into character. In kasa6, 4, and 3, Tsukasa shows some difficulty in getting out of his role. In 3, he seems dazed after playing the emotionally demanding role of Rio. In 4, he adds in mannerisms that make his character seem ātooā real, stealing the show in a way as a byproduct of getting too into the role. In 6, he fully convinces himself that nothing matters and that his shows are useless, causing him to lose his dream and hope in life (which in itself is concerning but that for another time, Tsukasa and the fragility of his dream is also such an interesting concept). Method acting intense scenes are notoriously known to leave the actor dazed for at the very least for a couple of days, and may require therapy to get out of. Tsukasa, however, goes back to normal after a mere couple of seconds. Now here is the fun part that I realllly hope (although unlikely) SEGA will get into; that being the dangers of drawing upon unresolved trauma for the āemotional recollectionā aspect of method acting.
Iām getting a bit ahead of myself there, because I still want to dwell on getting stuck in character for a little. Itās known that people, such as spies, can get stuck in character (or in this case, a cover/fake identity) and something such as disassociative amnesia could occur. Dissociative amnesia comes in various forms (and is seen in Mafuyu as well), but the one that applies to Tsukasa the most is selective amnesia. Selective amnesia is where someone canāt recollect certain parts of a specific time period, or can only recollect a little info from a time period. Tsukasa might take that little info he remembers on his childhood and think āoh ya I remember things so therefore Iām perfectly fineā (also side thought but what if something traumatic happened in middle school in association with his founding dream memory that caused him to forget it? And he still hasnāt remembered that which is why he doesnāt know the exact reason he forgot other than getting too self absorbed. Thatās probably a reach and not true but hey food for thought). Of course Iām getting a bit off topic here, but itās interesting how his tendency to get stuck in character and overall mental defenses play into causes for amnesia, such as the fact that he doesnāt let himself feel sad for very long, and shoves his own feelings aside. This could possibly pile up into stress, and excessive stress can disrupt the brain's memory function, thus leading to amnesia. (Another side note but a pretty important one at that, in an area convo where Rui and Toya talked, Rui asks if Tsukasa has always been this way, to which Toya replies that it was more so a persona that he put on to make Saki smile that just sort of āstuck.ā I find it interesting that they just leave it at that, but that could also mean that Tsukasa is not entirely genuine but just doesnāt remember how he was before the day he saw that show. So Tsukasa genuinely believes that he has always been like this, and that makes the people around him believe that he probably just grew out of his āshell.ā That can also tie into how he sees his own story as more of a ālegendā or āstoryā he can write, as alluded to in Mr. Showtime and Filament Fever, and how he can never truly stop acting. Also worth noting how that makes his entire personality centered around other people and their emotions. Hmmmm, I wonder which character(s) this sounds like. To add, although he is not masking per say, he does have a persona that he is CONSTANTLY in, ever since childhood. This also makes kasa6 even more real but Iāll get into that in a bit).
Alright, extremely long side tangent aside, now itās finally time to get into the dangers of drawing emotions from unresolved trauma. Itās pretty obvious that Tsukasa has never properly had a talk about HIS emotions with another person, usually keeping all, if any, introspection to himself. (He is VERY need-to-know with his feelings. If it burdens others by not saying anything, heāll give a brief rundown. But again, brief. He dumbs down his own problems, makes them seem āinconsequentialā and something that he can get over with little to no help). He also only willingly introspects if itās for a character, and he only talks about his emotions as an extension of the character, rather than something that is his and only his (if that makes any sense) Furthermore, he ONLY will willingly show his negative emotions if it benefits him or others). In kasa2, itās most apparent when he draws from his past. Additionally, Tsukasa most likely thinks that any emotions he feels during acting he doesnāt āreallyā feel. Like he recognizes that he might feel that way for a while, but he associates it solely with his character or what he wants to feel for the time being. In kasa2, he doesnāt think that his loneliness affects him NOW, only in the past. In kasa3, he (probably) doesnāt think that the feelings of inadequacy follow him after the audition, but stay back to when he was training and watching the play. In kasa4, he probably feels that he could never have the same venom and jealousy as Nakayama. In kasa6, he doesnāt think that he could really lose his dream, and he doesnāt think that he truly feels despair over losing his dream, but rather that itās only associated with the alternate reality he created for himself. Again, this tidbit is only a messy speculation that I hope I worded adequately, but now Iāll get into the real threat that lies here (and I really hope it is used in a future event kasa7 pls save us).Ā
All this leads to Tsukasaās trauma being very notably unresolved, and he uses that trauma (past or current), or at least aspects of it to create and connect to his character. This is called emotional recall, and there are a bunch of safety things to consider before attempting it. It is best used short term and is not recommended for long term things (like how Tsukasa is doing). When used, it can give fantastic performances and real acting. Tsukasa has only experienced good from this, so of course heās gonna keep on doing it, more extremely each time. Now, there are multiple ways symptoms could occur if anything did go wrong. First, the memory he would need to dig up would need to be traumatic, or at least he would need to do some serious digging within himself to find emotions that fit a character. Now who that character might be, it may be someone so similar to him that he has no problem getting in character, but has a very emotional, climatic moment (wait Iām just describing kasa6). It could also be a terrible, different, or very emotionally hurt person that he has to try to connect himself to, but when he does he finds a lot in common with his lesser traits. Both would force him to trudge up emotions he would rather keep down or not face, which is good, but he would just shove it down again once heās done, which is even worse. Whenever he does this, itās like ripping off an old, ineffective, sloppily applied bandaid from a flesh wound, using the blood for ink in a quill to write a letter or something, and slapping the same, old bandaid back on. Through this, in the future, he might get stuck in a role and have an emotional breakdown. His lines wouldnāt be just the character, but him and them talking like one, in and out of the play. He may experience disruptions in sleep afterward, or just become very unstable. It may make for a fantastic performance, but afterward he would probably be slowly descending into a mental break until he snaps or something of that nature. He could also feel physical effects, because traumatic flashbacks (or images, yes your brain canāt differentiate between imagination, memories, and real life sometimes if extreme enough) can cause your body to go in fight-or-flight mode, which can be exhausting. Additionally, he may have dissociation, causing him to feel unlike himself, distant from others, and act out of the ordinary. Another possibility is that he ends up fine after the performance, but just slowly spirals because that experience would never *truly* leave him no matter how hard he tries. This can lead to depression, and you're able to find many documented stories of actors going through this exact route. Both could also occur, and both require extensive⦠you guessed it, therapy. Also, I wanted to add that digging through the trauma for the role could trigger psychosis and could lead to (not cause) the discovery/triggering of a personality disorder or some similar thing. All in all, this could lead to re-traumatization, nervous system overload, dissociation and identity blurring, and mental health repercussions such as chronic anxiety, depressive episodes, sleep disorders, and isolation.Ā
In conclusion, Tsukasa is going down a slippery slope with his method acting alone, and WILL face consequences (realistically) if he keeps this up. Also, acting isnāt therapy. He isnāt gonna get better by acting, only worse. But I can definitely see why method acting speaks to him. To him, he is always making the best out of the present. He puts 12000% into every moment and action. This mindset is literally the reason the main story had an argument (āBut what about todayās audience?!ā) and likely stemmed from Sakiās illness. So, for a guy like him, what better method to act is there than a method that takes full advantage of the present? Presenting yourself with everything you have and truly taking in the world around you; itās perfect for him. In terms of acting, heās definitely grown a lot and he has a lot to be proud of, but he must also understand the negative effects of his sacrifices.
WOW, there sure is a lot to this guy is there? This is a bit over 2000 words, and this is only on method acting. I still havenāt addressed his perfectionism, self-sacrificial tendencies, loneliness, reliance on the people around him to be happy, his own feelings about his happiness and sadness, his over attachment to his dream, who he is without his dream, how he might view life in general, and his high affection-low attachment style of things. Also he measures his self worth on how much he can do for others. Also also, he has SO MANY parallels with N25 members, I could write another essay about just that (and he has barely interacted with them one on one other than Mizuki, and I love their dynamic. To add, Rui compared him and Ena in Ena5 when she was looking for Mizuki). Another example is in the Heat Abnormal WxS cover, he shares lines with Mafuyu, and it fits the both of them super well (āthe black starāx8 and āIāll kill the dreams that I could never fulfillā (quoting from memory)). Kanade and Ena both barely rely on anyone else, they both usually donāt confide in anyone about their problems (Kanade is more obvious but for Ena itās shown throughout the stories as well, but also in the unfading wishing new years event I think), and Tsukasa ALSO does that! Anyways, I *think* that this is all I have to say about Tsukasa and his method acting.Ā
Have a great day/night!

Okay but for anyone who legit wants to know how to calculate it correctly:
The elbow joint on average rests a couple inches higher than the navel, so if you measure how long the distance is from the middle of the shoulder to that point then you have the length of the upper and fore arms!
So if anyoneās wondering about legs too, the simplest rule of thumb is that the length from the top of the leg to the knee is equal to the distance between the top of the leg and the bottom of the pectorals:
And I wanna stress that when i sayĀ ātop of the legā iām not talking about the crotch (please donāt flag me tumblr itās an anatomical term) iām talking about the point where the femur connects to the pelvis, which is higher up on the hips:
Itās easier to see what Iām talking about in this photo of a man squatting:Ā
So yeah if you use that measurement when using this technique you should get fairly realistically proportioned legs:
But remember! messing with proportions is an important and fun part of character design! Know the rules first so you can then break them however you please!
HOW THE HELL DID I FIND THIS POST OMG
Licherally in the midst of drawing a guy and crying at how bad the arms are. Thanks Tumbles
I only ever saw the part where people started drawing the limbs outrageously long and genuinely wanted to know how to fix that, so Iām really thankful to see the rest.
