Apparently the Avatar series now uses chatgpt and made up their own language for the series ( most likely cutting any cultural ties ). Let the series die in peace. Why must you desecrate its corpse?

I don’t know anything about Chinese writing, but I watched some YouTube videos that discussed that not only did they use Chinese characters, they had expert calligraphers working on the show who were also able to incorporate different styles and historical eras of Chinese characters (Seal script, I believe?)

Seems like such a pity to leave that behind.

In my mini quest over the last few months to try and understand why ATLA is so good, it seems like the answer is that they had incredibly talented people in every department and gave them permission to go ham in their particular area, including incredibly detailed world building.

#the language change is bothering me so much #so is the blatant use of chatgpt for this #but I work with linguistics #and this show was a very early introduction for me to traditional chinese #they had experts for this #now it looks like such a bad script that makes so sense to have evolved from their previous script #I really hope that this fails and Im not someone who usually wishes that
