Child of the Night

Oh, how I miss the days when we would just hang out. Hell, it wasn't complicated. Lighthearted. Fun. We would be spontaneous, I'd bring snacks, heh, or we'd set a date, decide to skip school in the afternoon to play Mario Kart on the Wii. It's a fond memory. haha Or it would be movie night. We would go to concerts and parties. I don't want life to be so serious. I don't want to think of it that way. Maybe it's because deep down I always knew it's... well, it's a joke. To me, anyway. I never wanted anything painful or tied to loss to get to me. Learned that too early. Way too early. Well, I don't run away from it so much as push it away. I know, it's similar. And you might say it's not healthy, but would it be healthier to let it get close to me and consume me? To risk that? Sigh, no... Times were easier when we didn't have obligations, fuel was cheaper, and nothing really mattered in a good way. Or at least that's how it felt at times, because, come to think of it, I've never really enjoyed life and I barely remember the feeling. Maybe it's just my mind trying to comfort me. To cope. Twisted as it is… twisted...
