—Could you tell us some things you thought were important while writing about the last battle between Langa and ADAM?

Utsumi: I don’t think of it as……. the character of ADAM being saved, but closer to “reminding him of something important that he had forgotten”. And of course the only one who could do that was Langa. So I think that’s why Kikuchi entrusted it to Langa. But Langa isn’t the type of kid to start to do things on his own, so I think if he was still how he was before he wouldn’t have been able to approach him and take those actions.

—So then why was he able to do it in that beef?

Utsumi: I think it’s probably because he felt that ADAM was similar to him in some way. He lost his father too and so he knows that feeling of loneliness. And during that time he met Reki who taught him the fun of skating. Because Langa went through that I think he is able to say “I can teach you” and even when he says the words “you can’t have an argument with someone who’s not there” they’re ones he’s able to say because he went through that argument with Reki. In the truest sense, Langa really is the only one that could get close to him and tell him that.

The producers talk about Shadow’s secrets  

Uryuu: Originally he was just going to be a character who disappeared after episode 1 but Ookouchi-san put him in episode 2 and we thought “this setting is really good!”

Suzuki: Director Utsumi decided that he’d work in a flower shop and that he’d like his store manager.

Uryuu: After that it pretty much stayed like that all the way up until the finished product. I never imagined that he would gain the older brother position.

Suzuki: The character really took on a life of his own (lol). Even for his voice, Miyake-san put a lot of himself into it. He said “we have a similar physique so it works!” (lol).

Uryuu: Director Utsumi came up with his looks right from the start. We determined that he definitely did his make up himself and always changes before heading to the “S”.

Suzuki: and that’s why it’s kind of lame…… (lol).

Uryuu: His SD mark isn’t a tattoo is it?

The producers talk about Cherry blossom’s secrets

Suzuki: He was originally written to be a lawyer, but when it came time to design him, he ended up wearing Japanese style clothes.

Uryuu: So from there we tried to think of what job he could have that he’d wear kimono everyday…… and since we had already determined he would be an AI skater, he became an AI calligrapher.

Suzuki: He became the character for the most different ideas for him. No one could decide anything and so he just kept getting more, and so in the end Ookouchi just had to do something with all of that (lol).

Uryuu: He was created as a set with Joe, however they became like that north and south pole of a magnet! They’re exact opposites and yet they’re pulled towards each other, they’re constantly fighting and yet inseparable and so it’s like they’re always together.

Suzuki: When they fight, information about how long they’ve really known each other comes out.

Uryuu: They went to kindergarten together so they really are childhood friends.

The producers talk about Joe’s secrets  

Uryuu: He’s an Italian chef because he went to study in Italy.

Suzuki: That’s right, Italy is known as the land of the sun. So he has a tattoo of the sun. I never thought his outfit for the “S” would be him naked in just a jacket though (lol). It’s dangerous because you could get hurt but I’m sure that Joe doesn’t care about that.

Uryuu: Out of the adult group I feel like he’s the most adult.

Suzuki: He is the one who cares most about how the people he’s interacting with feel. Cherry blossom is the type to just say whatever he wants, but Joe seems like the type to watch over you from one step behind you. He’s really open minded so I understand why he’s popular with girls.

Uryuu: He isn’t a horrible womanizer, he just like women.

Suzuki: He’s probably nice to old ladies too.

Uryuu: His type is really wide.

White day and Spring sleeping

Q: How do you think he would spend white day?

Ookouchi: He’d definitely give flowers as a return gift. Since he works surrounded by women, I think he’s probably surprisingly used to women. However, unlike Joe, he’s not used to being masculine so I don’t know what would happen if he went on a date. If it was someone he really liked he’d probably be nervous and freeze up.

Q: What do you think he wears to sleep?

Ookouchi: Since he likes cute things, he probably wears some cute pajamas. Like with a flower pattern (lol). His room is decorated with items so he actually lives in a proper room. I think that shadow would be a good husband.

White day and Spring sleeping

Q: How do you think he would spend white day?

Suzuki: He’d probably give something homemade back. He seems like the type to make people eat his food.

Uryuu: He might make a cake or something. He’s the best of the best at making women happy so I think he’d take them out on a proper date.

Q: What do you think he wears to sleep?

Uryuu: I think he’d definitely sleep naked (lol).

Suzuki: That we’re agreed on. In bed he’s naked!
