Imagine you moved into a new home a few years back. You were still unfamiliar with most things but your nextdoor neighbours were really cool and very welcoming.
Slowly, over the years you became friends. They helped you through hard times and introduced you to new people. All was well until...
Well, it was just another Wednesday at first. But then you realised something was off.
Your nextdoor neighbours, those kind and lovely and funny people, were ... gone.
Without a trace, just leaving a note behind that said: "We're gone and you'll never see us again. But your new neighbours are fun too!"
You're angry. You don't want new neighbours, you want your old ones. The ones you wanted to ask a thousand questions even though you knew that most of them would never be answered.
Your mutual friends answered them sometimes, coming up with ideas and stories. It was all fine as long as your neighbours were there because it meant they could technically still answer.
And now there are new neighbours. You don't know them. Sure, they're funny and lovely and kind too but man, what the hell? Who leaves like that?!
Some of your friends share your anger. Your sadness and devastation. But some say:
"Let's give them a chance. Maybe we never got all the answers. Maybe it's a shit move just to leave like that. But maybe, just maybe, the new ones have answers too. To different questions, sure but all that means is that there are more possibilities."
You're not sure if you'll ever warm up to them. Maybe you will. Maybe you won't.
Because unlike your old neighbours you have something they never got a chance to have:
