Wanderlust

Olivia was sitting against a trunk of a tree while watching the sun set below the horizon. It was peaceful. However, a sudden scream caused Olivia not only spaz out, but also produce one in response. Her heart began to beat at what felt like super sonic speed. “Shit. Don’t fucking do that!” She had to rest back on the tree trunk to try and slow her heart beat. “The faceless wha-?” 

‘ people say and do the dumbest shit when they think no one’s watching. ’ 

“Who’s the idiot then?”

Olivia looked up from her now red arm, “That would be great.” She walked over to the guy who spoke.

“Cool, just follow me?” Sawyer said, his sentence coming out as more a question than a command. He led her to his cabin and pulled out his supply box. He’d brought it along since he knew from years previous that he’d need certain things. Grabbing the repellent, he handed it to the girl and offered her a smile. “Here ya go! I’m Sawyer, by the way.”

“Did you know that the chances of someone pranking you with a rattlesnake is much higher now that you said that?”

“If anyone knows this and still thinks it’s a good idea to prank someone with a rattlesnake then they are stupid. Someone could get killed and it’s not a joke.”

“Mm. You do that then. I’m going to go find something interesting to do. See you around, I guess?”

“That’s’ what I plan on doing. And no one’s keeping you here so have fun. But if you find anything interesting, like a dead body to poke, let me know?”

“If there was something fun to do around here, I would have no clue. I mean, I’ve got bad luck and get myself into shit a lot.”

“So you’re the drama magnet? Should I get some popcorn out just in case?”

“Did you know a rattlesnake can still bite you hours after it’s head has been chopped off? As if i needed another reason to be scared of them.”

“Did you know that the chances of someone pranking you with a rattlesnake is much higher now that you said that?”

“You’re right, it’s very shameful. Sorry I can’t help you.”

“At least tell me there is good parties here.”

“O-Oh… W-Well you l-learn s-something everyday.” He told her. 

“It seems that way. So how long have you been here?”

Talon smiled softly, chuckling. “G-Glad to know I-I’m a good g-guesser… N-no, I-I’m being s-serious. I-I knew a-at least two o-other T-Talon’s in LA.”

“Oh... well no. It’s not common to me or where I’m from at least.” She shrugged.

“T-Texas?” He whispered, trying not to be wrong. “R-Really? I-I thought my n-name was pretty c-common.”

“Ring-a-frickin’-ding, you’re right.” She smiled, “Are you being sarcastic with me?” 

“W-Where are y-you from?” He asked softly. “I-I’m Talon,” he smiled at her, not holding out his hand to her, instead inclining his head. 

“I’ll give you one hint... Howdy.” The unusual name took her by surprise, “Cool name. Definitely haven’t heard that one before.”

“I honestly have no idea what’s going on actually.”

“Such a shame. Here I was, beginning to like you Morgan.”

“I mean, it’d have to be a little tree, yanno. I can pack a punch, but I’m not pull-strong.”

Olivia nodded her head slowly, “Ah. Still don’t see why they’d get mad. But I mean if you want to break your arm, by all means let me pull up a chair and watch.”
