“i did,” sawyer nodded carefully. “i slept pretty well.” if he could remember last night correctly, talon had consumed enough alcohol that he’d probably have a hangover right now, and that was a priority to sawyer for the time being. taking care of his baby. “how does your head feel, monkey?”

S-Sawyer, Aurora and M-Morgan, I-I guess. M-My brother’s too.

sawyer was instantly soothed by talon’s touch and the whispered affirmation. he smiled warmly, the skin by eyes crinkling a little. when talon moved closer, sawyer was swift to put his arm around the boy’s waist to hold him there. “yeah? i’m glad. did you sleep all right?” he asked, bringing his hand up to gently take the one resting on his face.

“A boy eh?” Tatum asked. His instincts prickled, and he rubbed circles on Talon’s back because it calmed him down. “A boy that makes you happy?” he asked, gently. 

Talon nodded slowly, looking up at his older brother. “T-The happiest I-I’ve been,” he whispered. “B-But I don’t w-want to l-like... M-Make him t-think he h-has to be w-with me.”

with the little “oops” sawyer was startled from where he had half fallen back asleep. a little gasp escaped his lips and he blinked his way into focus. “hi,” he spoke softly so as not to startle the other boy. “um, we didn’t.. nothing happened. i slept over there,” he was quick to say, pointing to aurora’s other side. “but i wanted to be close to you…” he trailed off, cheeks going pink at the thought of how clingy he must have sounded. “i’m sorry, i… good morning?”

“Figured.” She grinned before posing in the most hipster pose she could.

Talon smiled wide as Morgan posed as she did, snapping a few pictures. “P-Perfect!”

“Give it a try. We’ll see how well it works out.”

talon didn’t say another word, just folding his legs up to his chest.

“I’d be cool with this whole nature thing if wild animals weren’t trying to maul me every time I left my cabin.” He cursed before sliding down against a tree. “Why can’t they target you instead?” Spencer questioned with his arms crossed.

Talon frowned at the words wild animals and target you. “B-But... N-Nothing is r-really out t-there. W-What’s been a-attacking you?”
