Oh boy do i have thoughts on Crowley being mean in go3
(This is just me ranting it is not very well written, b/c i am just needing a place to rant rn)
Okay so I actually do feel that Crowley being mean could work but HEAR ME OUT
they didnt do it right. How they did it was crowley is mad at Azi because he broke his heart which is fair, but he stays mad and like disregards him a lot. He makes snide comments to twist the knife so to speak.
And that is not hurt Crowley. At. All.
If you want a dynamic to shift because of an event (f15) then you must be consistent with the characters. Crowley loves humanity yes, but more than that he wants aziraphale. To be safe, to have whatever he wants, to eat whatever he wants, anything! So when he first sees Aziraphale I understand that he was bitter and heartbroken and didnt want to talk to him because of the pain but i feel if they wanted to do that they should have done it i a self sabotage way. Instead of just being pissed and telling azi he doesn’t want to talk to him, it could have been an isolation method?! That would fit crow in my opinion. Because with isolation its less that you want to be alone, in fact it’s usually the opposite its a way of not fixing a problem and ignoring it, its a way of punishment for ones self. Maybe crows brain was telling him he doesn’t deserve azi, that azi never wanted him in the way he did, that because of his mistake and hurt he caused he isn’t allowed to talk to aziraphale or doesn’t deserve to.
Thats a much more interesting conflict on top of the heartbreak, because that allows for more miscommunication and roundabout ways of “fixing” their hurt. Crow wants to help, desperately, but his mind wont let him, his hurt makes it worst. And to azi if we keep how he responds to crow in the show (which is also so stupid and very out of character) then when azi leaves to the bookshop maybe he does think crow is mad at him, is over him, and never will help him again, when in fact that is far from the truth.
man it just like coulda been written better, more complex instead of “theyre mad at eachother and they did bad things” which wait even thats not true because AZI IS SHOWN AS THE SOLE PROBLEM
which IS NOT TRUE!!! Azi did hurt crowley but that doesnt make him definitively bad, a thing he show teaches us about every two seconds.
man its just like having a character be forever mad at the love of their life is so much more….boring? Than having the, be mad and want to help but cant, with out help already being given, without and inch to take to a mile, and thats what actual azi would do. He would help crowley, they hurt eachother but that doesnt negate they need eachother, that isnt the end of the conversation thats the start. “We are mad at eachother and we must either understand why or put aside”
okay an done more thing. They were not shown as tired in the show…..that is o important to me. They have spent over 6000yrs being underwatch, not being able to actually be close friends without fear for their and their SO life. They have had so much stress, and they canonically have had no break. They are tired, azi is supreme arch angel trying to stop the second coming, while being away, truly away from whom he loves most, and 8 billion other things.my boys are tired the southdowns cottage was something i wanted because it was a way to show that they were not only free, but able to rest. Not having to deal with Armageddon or being erased from the BOL , just being able to read. To eat. To love.
