genuinely kills me how many people are so disappointed about taylor being cast as alex specifically because the most common fancast wasn't the actual person who was cast, and i just want to say that of course so many people simply wanted a Latino⢠without caring about the actual heritage of the actor, but personally the joy i feel about having an actual mexican person playing alex as opposed to Literally Anyone From Mexico And Down⢠because white people don't see the difference between all types of Latinos and think accents and behaviors are interchangeable, is simply unmatched
turns out not every latin person is the same! turns out if i had to watch a puerto rican guy play a mexican character i would have refused to watch because it would be impossible to suspend by disbelief! yeah the guy is pretty and he might be very alex, but he isn't mexican, and it might not matter to y'all because you only care about appearance but it matters to me and to mexican/mexican-american people who will be watching!
listen, taylor night not be the alex you pictured, that is 100% valid, it is a shock to see the cast and not see the person you pictured, that is not the issue here. but the complaining about it not being the person most of you fancast when, again, the person most of you fancast was never even mexican, then it realllllllly rubs me the wrong way
