being  born  in  the  70s  was  a  wildly  different  era  to  today.  jordan  finds  some  amusement  in  the  things  that  have  come  back  into  popularity  from  his  childhood,  but  he’s  also  a  bitter  old  man  about  a  lot  as  well.  nyc  was  a  different  world  back  then,  a  world  where  he  was  a  shadowhunter  and  partnered  with  his  best  friend.  he  was  never  the  best  shadowhunter,  but  jordan  was  a  good  one.  he  did  his  duty  and  honored  his  vow  to  uphold  the  accords.

but  all  that  would  change  the  night  he  was  sent  to  deal  with  an  unruly  pack  of  werewolves  killing  innocents  in  the  streets.  nobody  else  was  free  to  go,  and  jordan  didn’t  want  to  wait  when  they  got  the  call.  he  left  alone,  which  would  be  the  mistake  to  change  his  life  for  good.  he’d  managed  to  kill  quite  a  few  wolves,  and  in  his  confidence  he  got  cocky.  this  cockiness  would  lead  to  him  getting  bitten  right  as  backup  arrived  and  finished  the  job.  he  was  lucky  enough  to  have  been  saved,  but  at  what  cost?  the  shadowhunters  he’d  fought  with  time  and  time  again  would  turn  their  backs  on  him,  and  he  was  left  in  the  streets  to  survive  his  wounds.

and  so  the  shadowhunter  would  become  a  werewolf.  his  first  change  was  brutal,  but  jordan  would  be  taken  under  the  paw  of  the  praetor  lupus.  he  could  no  longer  call  the  institute  home,  but  he  could  still  manage  to  serve  a  higher  purpose  as  a  guardian.  he  was  taken  to  the  praetor  house,  trained  and  taught  how  to  become  someone  to  help  fellow  wolves  in  his  situation.

he’s  been  sent  to  rome  for  several  reasons,  but  jordan  also  has  a  personal  mission  to  destroy  the  mortal  instruments.  he  thinks  they  are  too  powerful,  and  that  the  clave  has  no  business  with  them.  truly,  he’s  a  bitter  man  when  it  comes  to  his  former  life,  but  he’s  also  old  enough  now  to  have  mellowed  out  a  bit.

an  enigma,  anika  bloodrose  strives  to  be  the  most  mysterious  person  in  existence.  she  gives  away  nothing,  and  none  even  know  where  she  is  from.  

she  was  born  to  a  single  woman,  in  a  time  where  that  was  a  positive  scandal.  anika  was  torn  away  from  the  human  who  birthed  her  and  raised  by  a  warlock  that  aspired  to  have  children.  the  woman  pushed  anika  to  terrible  lengths,  pulled  her  power  out  in  blood,  sweat  and  tears.  long  nights,  little  sleep,  and  rougher  conditions  than  many,  but  ut  all  worked.  anika  proved  to  have  the  power  that  could  be  felt  in  the  air  when  she  neared,  she  was  a  product  of  a  prince  of  hell,  after  all.

but  there  was  no  love  between  she  and  the  woman  who  stole  her,  and  when  anika  was  a  few  centuries  old  she  killed  her  mentor.  while  the  elder  had  granted  her  abilities  beyond  most  warlocks,  anika’s  capacity  to  hold  a  grudge  and  execute  her  revenge  is  unparalleled.  and  just  like  that,  she  became  the  high  warlock  of  rome  at  a  rather  young  age  for  a  warlock,  but  none  would  challenge  the  girl  either.  she  kept  her  mentor’s  surname  as  well,  a  move  of  power  and  spite.

anika  has  served  rome  for  centuries.  she’s  watched  it  rise,  she’s  watched  it  fall,  and  she’s  witnessed  great  battles  and  great  wars.  she’s  incredibly  old,  but  she’ll  never  tell  that  to  many.  in  truth,  she  won’t  admit  to  any  of  her  story.  it’s  all  rumors  and  speculation.  it  amuses  her,  what  people  come  up  with  to  explain  what  someone  is  or  where  they  came  from.

she’s  a  very  reserved  person,  but  knows  how  to  charm  her  way  into  anything  she  needs.  her  manipulative  skills  are  every  bit  something  to  fear  alongside  her  power.

born  to  the  head  of  the  london  institute,  zara  was  expected  to  do  great  things,  and  great  things  she  did.  pushed,  praised,  criticized,  held  to  higher  standards  than  most,  she  pushed  past  the  bar  and  continued  to  show  how  good  of  a  shadowhunter  she  was.  it  became  a  cycle,  zara  apart  from  the  others  at  the  institute,  a  lone  wolf,  but  successful.  with  each  success  she  knew  she  had  to  do  more,  be  better,  and  achieve  higher.  the  only  constant  in  her  life  that  didn’t  push  her  like  her  parents  and  herself?  her  childhood  best  friend,  the  person  who  would  one  day  become  her  parabatai  and  show  her  that  she  didn’t  have  to  work  alone after a near fatal injury trying to fight a powerful demon alone.

zara  is  a  mess  of  “ i  can  do  it  alone ”  and  “ maybe  i  do  need  people. ”  it  really  makes  her  hot  and  cold,  combined  with  her  stubborn  head  and  brazen  nature  she  truly  is  a  hard  pill  to  swallow  by  some.  she  doesn’t  hate  all  downworlders,  but  she  doesn’t  love  them  either.  she  recognizes  that  not  all  are  evil,  but  that  most  hate  her  by  her  own  blood.  all  she  cares  about  is  doing  the  clave  and  her  parents  proud,  but  what  room  has  there  ever  been  for  her  own  ideals?  she’s  beginning  to  question  if  she’s  even  meant  to  have  her  own  thoughts  and  opinions.  it’s  a  real  spiral.

her  parents  have  tasked  her  with  finding  the  mortal  instruments,  but  she’s  not  even  sure  she  wants  to.  everyone  is  after  them  for  one  reason  or  another,  what  would  the  clave  even  do?  zara  is  beginning  to  see  how  archaic  some  of  their  rules  are  with  the  new  propositions,  and  she’s  not  eager  to  see  the  fall  out  of  it  either.

over  all  girly  pop  is  just  a  bit  of  a  mess,  a  bit  of  a  b,  but  also  a  damn  good  shadowhunter  and  cocky  for  it  too.

mentor  :  should  be  from  the  london  institute,  or  a  traveler.  they  worked  with  her  at  a  young  age  and  the  pair  stayed  in  contact.  one  of  the  few  people  other  than  her  parabatai  to  knock  through  her  thick  skull,  tries  to  get  her  to  take  care  of  herself  and  not  just  focus  on  the  clave.

challenger  :  zara  has  been  questioning  a  lot  lately,  and  this  person  will  add  to  that.  they  can  be  any  species,  but  either  way  they  challenge  her  thoughts  and  loyalty.  it  won’t  make  her  sway  from  loyalty  to  the  clave,  but  it  will  make  her  realize  blind  loyalty  isn’t  it,  and  retake  some  of  her  own  individuality.

lux  came  into  the  world  thinking  that  she  was  just  a  normal  girl,  born  to  a  sweet  set  of  parents  that  cherished  her  and  gave  her  anything  she  ever  wanted.  they  were  well  off,  and  she  was  afforded  the  luxury  and  privilege  of  nice  schooling  and  not  wanting  for  much.  now,  the  downside  of  this  is  that  the  girl  is  very  much  spoiled,  but  she’s  not  quite  a  brat  in  that  way.  she  can  be  bratty,  but  she  doesn’t  expect  to  have  whatever  she  wants,  nor  does  she  think  she  deserves  it.  she’s  just  a  wild  spirit  that  is  not  used  to  getting  in  trouble,  and  very  reckless  for  it.

as  she  aged,  things  shifted  with  her  parents.  they  started  to  be  stricter  with  her,  more  controlling  with  rules  and  curfews,  but  she  rebelled  and  never  got  in  trouble  for  it.  on  top  of  that,  they  became  strict  about  her  learning  self  defense,  being  able  to  fight.  she  was  pushed  to  focus  on  her  fitness  and  endurance,  which  somewhat  came  naturally.

but  soon  lux  would  learn  that  they  had  hidden  something  large  from  their  daughter,  and  that  she  would  grow  to  display  powers  similar  to  a  fae.  she’d  always  felt  a  bit  different,  hearing  things  nobody  else  did,  feeling  something  in  the  world  that  she  couldn’t  explain.  her  parents  would  finally  share  what  they’d  been  hiding  for  her  entire  life,  and  to  an  18  year  old  it  completely  rocked  her  sense  of  foundation.

lux  learned  she  had  faerie  blood,  seelie,  for  whatever  that  meant.  it  explained  her  heightened  senses,  agility,  grace,  and  what  she’d  been  picking  up  on  were  ley  lines,  powerful  veins  throughout  the  earth.  they  shared  that  she  was  adopted,  and  that  the  woman  who  gave  her  up  only  shared  little  bits  of  what  she  was.  either  way,  she  wasn’t  human,  and  this  really  changed  everything  about  how  she  viewed  her  parents.

lux  went  off  to  college  in  new  york,  far  away  from  her  home  and  got  a  degree  in  art  history.  she  proceeded  to  spend  the  next  few  years  traveling  across  europe,  still  refusing  to  visit  home.  her  parents  fund  her  travels,  worrying  about  cutting  her  off  but  still  begging  her  to  come  home.  over  all,  lux  has  a  lot  to  deal  with,  and  she’s  burying  a  lot  while  also  looking  for  answers  because  she  doesn’t  think  that  what  she’s  been  told  is  everything.  she’ll  soon  find  out  that  her  hunch  was  correct.

the person to introduce her to the shadow world  :  any  species,  and  this  person  will  find  her  and  realize  what  she  is,  or  have  an  inkling,  befriend  her,  and  then  bring  her  into  the  shadow  world.  different  from  the  wc  on  the  main,  they  aren’t  expected  to  train  her,  but  they  will  help  her  meet  people  to  help  train  her  faerie  instincts  and  possibly  her  shadowhunter  ones.  they’ll  become  real  friends,  and  she’ll  feel  she  owes  them  a  lot  for  helping  her  this  way.  their  motives  can  be  utp.

flings  :  lux  is  hetero  (for  now??)  but  she’s  also  a  flirty  little  shit.  she’s  spent  the  last  two  years  traveling  all  across  europe  so  they  could  have  met  anywhere,  or  it  can  be  something  new.  she  doesn’t  do  strings,  has  never  been  in  love,  but  they  definitely  have  some  wild  stories  and  had  a  blast  together.

skeptics  :  people  she’ll  meet  in  the  shadow  world  who  think  she  doesn’t  know  how  to  assimilate,  doesn’t  know  how  to  learn  her  abilities.  they’re  snarky  and  rude,  and  bring  out  her  snarky  and  rude  side.
