Out of the corner of his eyes, he could see the latter wasn’t having a pleasant time. At all. Knowing better than to have pity over his meister, he just stared at the sky, like it was suddenly the most fascinating thing in the world and it a way, it was. Another heavy sigh came out of his mouth and he leaned back, hands on the dewy grass, not having a care in the world and only then he faced his meister when he started to just… Ramble out a lot of utter nonsense ( and if he had to choose a better word, it was all bullshit ). ❛ Aren’t you just saying that to convince yourself that everything is fine? ❜ Joowon wasn’t made out of stone, and neither was he. The weapon had also learned the hard way that bottling everything about feelings would just make it worst, and he honestly didn’t want to end up on a fist battle to make the meister spit it all out.
❛ You know ❜, maybe he had to push some buttons. ❛ People talk. A lot. And word said that you are the best of the best, so how come we’re still on square one after hours of training? ❜ On the other hand, Hyunwoo had little to none options since he hadn’t been able to find the perfect partner, mostly because his past meister said he was too much of a hassle to handle, their energy being drained easily after a few minutes of usage. So the conclusion he came to was that he needed some with a healthy soul in a healthy body and healthy mind.
Most of his past meisters struggled in the soul part; Joowon on the other hand, seemed to be struggling in the mind part.

joowon will admit that he’s use to criticism. being as high level of a meister as he is doesn’t leave his name out of the mouths of others. there aren’t very many people, though, who have the gall to say it straight to his face–especially not a weapon.
his jaw snaps shut with an audible clack of his teeth, eyes going almost comically wide as he listens to the man’s words before him. they sting, more so than he’d like to admit. nobody has so blatantly read him so easily. nobody has placed his cards on the table only to force joowon to look at them. a soft sort of anger flares up in his chest, an emotion he tries to keep tempered as often as he can, but it’s so hard when hyunwoo is being so brutally honest. shut up! he wants to yell at the other man. you have no idea what you’re talking about! he wants to scream, but joowon knows he can’t. hyunwoo does know what he’s talking about. if he wasn’t so on the nose than the meister wouldn’t have been so shaken by his words.
trust. that’s all this was about, wasn’t it? did joowon no longer trust himself?
❝ i never– ❞ joowon pauses to clear his throat, still trying to process the words that had been thrown at him. he was ill-prepared. he wasn’t ready to catch them. ❝ i never meant to say that there was something wrong with you, hyunwoo. how would i know if there was anyway? i know as much about you as you know about me. which, by the way, is very slim. ❞
and does joowon have anybody to blame for that? not really. if anything the meister is the reason for the large disconnect between them. his face falls into an expression that’s uncharacteristically serious, shifting slightly on the grass under him to find a more comfortable position. though nothing was comfortable about this whole situation.
❝ tell me, hyunwoo. have you ever lost a meister? not in the sense of them deciding to choose another weapon. i mean have you lost one. has one of your partners ever died? ❞
