it’s hard to stay mad, even more so when they peak from their blankets to see ruby’s pout. they’re trying to keep up the act but a moment later they’re absentmindedly running their hands through his hair and any semblance of even pretending to be upset is gone, replaced with a soft smile. “okay, i’m not actually mad at you. as long as you don’t leave me to suffer this cold alone, it’s okay.” 

if ruby could purr he’s sure he would be at the moment. doe eyes immediately fall shut at the tender caress of lithe fingers through his hair. a happy, soft hum tumbling past heart shaped lips. he’s sure he could lie here forever as long as fable never took their hands out of his hair. 

❝ i like keeping you company anyway, you know. ❞ his eyes reopen just a smidgen, half-lidded and content as he looks back up at them. ❝ do you want me to make you some more tea? are you hungry? ❞

He had decided to close the shop early today when he saw the amount of customers in the shop decrease and knew that there wouldn’t be more dropping by. He plans on just relaxing when he gets home. Most likely he was going to order take out and probably sleep after. He was making sure the front door of the shop was locked and gets startled when he felt someone wrapping around his bicep. He wasn’t expecting this at all.

When he looks to see who it was he realized it was a hybrid. He didn’t know this male. He was confused why the male approached him and feeling their tail around his waist he assumed something was going on. Watching how this hybrid was looking over their shoulder Junsu looks in the direction they were looking and seeing some people in the distance confirmed to Junsu that something was up. He could tell those people were making the male uncomfortable.

“It’s fine,” he says looking back at the male and playing along. “I should had called you first asking where you were than locking the shop up and then calling you to come and get you in case you were lost. Since you’re here now you can take all the time you want looking at the flowers in my shop.” Gently he has the male unwrap their arms from him and waits for them to unwrap their tail and then he unlocks the door. 

Opening the door he waits for the male to enter and when the male enters Junsu follows after and closes the door. He has a closed sign hanging from the door so hopefully that’ll discourage those people following the hybrid to enter. At least they can stop acting now. “Wait for a couple of minutes and they should be gone. Though, where were you heading if you don’t mind me asking? I can give you a ride if that’s okay with you. I know we just met and all, but it’s your choice.” 

the amount of relief minnie feels when he realizes the man before him is playing along should be a little embarrassing, but all he cares about at the moment is the fact that he’s getting off the street and away from potential harm. round cheeks flush pink once he notices exactly how close he pressed himself against the strangers side, and minnie is quick to disconnect in hopes that he hasn’t made anything more awkward than it already is. 

❝ thank you. so much. i know this is really sudden and you’re probably very confused. ❞ breathe, minnie has to remind himself. the man before him must have gotten the idea already if he let the him into his store. there probably wasn’t much else he needed to explain. still, minnie felt guilty. he was so obviously on his way home after closing down the shop, and now here the hybrid was standing inside of it. idly his finger reach down to curl themselves around his tail as though it was his own personal stress ball. he clears his throat. 

❝ i’m just on my way home. got off of work myself. i don’t live too far away-- ❞ it would be stupid for minnie not to take the offer of a ride. while his flight or fight is still kicking away behind his ribs, sending his heart all but pounding out of his chest, minnie does feel safer than he has all night. ❝ i would...really appreciate a ride. thank you. for the offer and for letting me inside your store. ❞

he takes a moment to look around, fingers reaching out to gently run a petal between his thumb and forefinger. it’s warm in here. it smells good. minnie almost feels like he could spend hours just looking at all the different types of flowers if he had the time. ❝ your shop is beautiful. ❞ he turns slightly to look over his shoulder at the man. ❝ do you own it? ❞

“nope.” fable’s voice is soft as they wrap the blanket around their body, covering their head. “i’m mad at you. you can’t be cute and expect me to not be mad.” they aren’t very convincing at pretending to be mad cause truthfully, they weren’t. “you made me sick. you had this cold first.” 

❝ fable. ❞ the whine is soft and drawn out, dramatic, just like the way ruby throws himself over their blanketed lap. he wiggles his torso, legs kicking out as though he’s a toddler as he sends the best puppy dog pout up their way. 

❝ i didn’t do it on purpose. ❞ his arms wrap around their waist, and ruby wastes no time burying his face into their tummy. ❝ besides! now i’m taking care of you. favor repaid! ❞

(m for ships tho) plot: your apartment is next to/above mine and i can hear you and your partner dancing and singing and the bed moving and you two laughing and talking in hushed tones and it won’t let me sleep so i bitch about it to you 24/7 and one day it stops and one day turns to one week and then months and i haven’t seen you smile in forever please let me in, i’ve been knocking for ten minutes

jungmin doesn’t really try to make it a point to pry into others’ business - but he knows this silence all too well. it’s gradual, but still noticeable. but maybe that’s because he’s paying more attention than people normally would. something definitely happened. and after all, yang is always telling him to reach out to people around him. 

that’s what brings him to his neighbor’s door, head resting against the wood as he knocks. “ come on, i know you’re in there. i saw your car in the parking lot, “ he says quietly, and bites his lip. he doesn’t want to be a bother, but he can’t deny that he’s worried. “ you don’t have to talk. i just want to know that you’re okay. “ 

the last thing hannie wants is to have to talk to somebody. he’s already gained quite a few notifications on his phone asking him where he’s been or how he’s doing--left unanswered to deal with for another day. he lies there on the couch ( wearing sweats and a hoodie that he’s been wearing for at least three days ) hoping that the persistent knocking will stop and whoever is on the other side of the door will go away. 

it doesn’t.

hearing jungmin’s voice just makes hannie wish the couch would open up and swallow him whole. he’s the last person he wants to see after his breakup from his boyfriend that the older male liked to quite frequently bitch about. maybe he was just here to rub it in his face. god, hannie wishes he would just stop fucking knocking. 

❝ jesus christ, jungmin. what?! ❞ hannie is a weak man, and it only took a few more knocks before he was flying off the couch to finally answer the door. he’s sure he looks as worse as he feels. eyes puffy from still crying ( even though it’s been at least a month now ) and hair a mess.  ❝ i’m not dead, if that’s what you’re wondering. okay is a...relative term. ❞
