I don't know what I love more: Sophie having the cheek the nerve the gall the audacity and the gumption to basically tell Benedict "You make me too horny, you must leave your own house" OR Benedict responding with "You're absolutely right and I am so sorry, I'll go pack my shit"
Emily Bader & Tom Blyth as Poppy & Alex PEOPLE WE MEET ON VACATION (2026)
i find it funny how most of the criticism around r.f. kuang books is people saying she's too smart or that she puts too much knowledge in her books. and i don't know about y'all, but i never heard people saying these comments about a male author.
I truly think a lot of RF Kuang haters are just frustrated white people who can’t stand that an Asian woman has brains, creativity, and challenges colonialism and whiteness in every one of her novels. She doesn’t fit the “lotus woman” stereotype they’re so used to. She is beautiful and soft spoken yet opinionated and funny, does research, and still writes novels as a second career. Meanwhile, prolific white authors like Sanderson (whose work I also enjoy, no hate to him) are idolised without the same double standards.
Of course, not every book is for everyone. But its the specific criticisms she faces : “too pretentious,” “too intellectual,” “spells things out too much,” “villainises white people,” and now “her books are written by IA”... come on. That’s not just about taste, it’s rooted in racialised stereotypes about who gets to be seen as intellectual, complex, or authoritative.
It’s not the writing that bothers them, it’s who’s writing it.

Heyy everyone! Dropping the latest Sketch-a-Wish, one that has been repeatedly requested by my lovely patreon members-- with a caveat! There were frequent requests for two scenes: one where Sophie tells Howl to find her in the future, and the 'There you are' scene in the beginning. I decided to bridge the gap between these two scenes and show something we've never seen before - the secret moment when Howl tracks Sophie down using matching ring he gave to Sophie. If you'll notice in the movie, it's sparkling just as he puts his hand on her shoulder. I thought it would be a fun 'what if' fanart for this off-screen theory. :)
The feeling that resolves all the contradictions of human life and gives the greatest good to man is known to all mankind. This feeling is love.

having your sister’s husband, the father of her child, saved in your phone as “sugar’s boyfriend (pete?)” is honestly one of the most diabolical things i’ve seen from carmen thus far i’ll be real
one thing that pisses me off greatly is the (schorlaly) misunderstanding of éowyn. i've read too many papers mentionning that éowyn was weak and that tolkien didn't write strong women and?? i'm so confused. éowyn is one of the strongest characters. she killed the witch-king and once she accomplished her goal (to gain valour in battle) she chose a peaceful life because there was no need to fight anymore. this is the opposite to weakness. she chose peace over violence?? weak people are the ones who choose violence over peace

Boromir: Uh, excuse me??? Who died and made YOU king??
Legolas: Isildur.
Boromir: Oh shit ok.

Kaitlin Olson playing Sherlock Holmes in miniskirts and fluffy pink jackets is the greatest choice network tv has ever made. even more than the throuple stuff that's apparently happening on that cruise ship
