Chris Evans as Andy Barber in Defending Jacob
If I remember correctly, he had to do his own running because he doesn’t run like normal people LOL
Yes, that was in one of the First Avenger commentaries, I think! Though I think it’s been mentioned a few times by various people, too.
That top gif…I just…why are his arms so inconsistent?! His form is way better with his right arm. His left arm somehow turns into a stiff plank halfway through. (We also won’t even comment on his hips/body position in the water. *stares in former swim team & swim instructor bafflement*) I don’t understand. Who taught this man to swim? Is this like the running thing, where he’s just…not like other people? Why does he turn his head so far to breathe? Why is his right arm more flexible than his left? I have QUESTIONS.
(This is why I can’t watch most movies/read most books or fic about swimmers. *having flashbacks to one published (!) m/m romance I read that involved competitive swimmers and had…just…wildly inaccurate times for every result, either way too fast or way too slow*)
Also, though, that bottom gif. Mmmmm.
people who kindly let you pass them during practice are sexy

Swimming Don’ts
one time there was this person i (kind of) liked and we were doing backstroke and going opposite directions and separate lanes and he kinda just grabbed my waist and we looked up awkwardly at each other for a solid moment and i just
Oof, it be like that sometimes. One time, I was about to swim on top of this guy (I sort of liked???) while doing backstroke, and he went underwater to the bottom of the pool to let me go ahead. BUT!!! I got startled by the movement, so I stopped swimming and ended up stepping on his head.
do you know that feeling, when you go to do a flip turn,,, and thEn you miss and just kick off nothing
yes, I know the feeling:

So I just started a new team that's really good and big and competitive compared to my last one, which was so much smaller and not as good. I joined that team to adjust to swimming again (I swam earlier in my life, but it had been 3 years since then), and I ended up really liking swimming there with my teammates. But now with this newer team, I barely know anyone there and I don't like the kids either. How can I just focus on dropping time/improving?
I had a similar experience when I switched teams back in the day. The team I switched to had a lot of drama and cliques, but I found a couple of people I got along with. If you start to get to know some of your team members, maybe you will find someone that you vibe with.
As for improving, here are my suggestions:
- Set small goals that lead up to a larger goal (ex. making states, zones, etc.). It’s okay if things don’t go your way or if you don’t meet a goal; things happen, and swimming is not meant to go perfectly. Reflect and move on.
- Focus on your stroke and take the initiative to ask your coach for feedback. Watch really good swimmers and see what they are doing right. (Sometimes, you might even catch what they are doing wrong!) When you correct your stroke, sometimes you feel slower but that’s okay!
- Give it your all at practice! Don’t slack around, pretend to go to the bathroom, etc. Push yourself, but know your limits!
- Hydrate and eat right! You can’t get stronger if you aren’t eating right and letting your body heal.
one time this swim team parent told all the other parents I was only faster than the other kids because I was on steroids... yea like steroid cream for my eczema??? sports parents are honestly something else
This picture is just satisfying

I’ve always loved swimming since I was little but I was never on a team,I never considered it until now in college.Would it be too late to join a team?
Not at all! Masters’ teams typically accept people of all skill levels. If your college has a club team, that’s a great option too! If not, maybe you can start one?
Good luck!
