I feel like a lot of bisexual people get upset when gay people say "I don't want you to leave me for the opposite sex" and, I mean, yea, having someone basically tell you they think you're gonna cheat on them/leave them just for being bisexual probably isn't fun but I feel like that statement should be looked at more. They're not flat out saying "I don't want you to cheat on me/leave me", they're specifically saying that they don't want you to leave them for the opposite sex. Why specifically the opposite sex? Wouldn't the same sex AND the opposite sex hurt just as much?
My honest opinion? Nah, I don't think it would.
See, a lot of gay people struggle with not being the opposite sex. I, as a lesbian, always struggled with not being a guy because they had no issues when it came to girls. They could have crushes on them, they were more liked by girls, they had a much bigger dating pool and I thought they were cooler. The fact I could never be one no matter what honestly kinda hurt lmao. I felt like an inferior man and that I'd always lose to men when it came to finding a woman. As if I was in their shadow and they'd always always always get girlfriend's before I ever would and girls would like them more than me. Every girl I was interested in had a high chance of being straight and I'd have to watch her fall for a guy.
As you can imagine, that hurts a lot.
So, when gay people say they don't want their bisexual partners to leave them for the opposite sex, I think that that's where that stems from. Imagine if I finally do get a girl to crush on/date me and then one day she's like "actually, if much rather date a man instead" and all of a sudden all my fears of being inferior are validated. I am an inferior man and she's tired of it and would rather date an actual man instead of playing around with me.
Like I'm sorry if this offends people but being left for the opposite sex hurts so fucking much as a gay person because it's like... Idek how to describe it tbh. It's like confirming the belief that everyone you crush on will eventually stop playing around with you and go find actual partners that they can have a future with while you know that you'll never like the opposite sex and so you're constantly left in the dust and feel like you'll never be happy and find someone who'll stick with you.
That's not to say bisexuals are wrong or anything. If you're not happy in your relationship then leave leave leave. Don't stick around to prevent hurting someone's feelings. I'm just saying that I'm tired of people bashing on gay people for expressing these fears.
