I have to solve these rumors once and for all (while explaining myself).
No, I’m not anti-feminist
No, I’m not a Neo-Confederate
I’m against calling the word “bitch” a slur and female supremacy, yes. I’m against misandry, even if it’s not systematic. I stopped being in most feminist spaces because they felt hostile towards me and many others (like trans women) just because we were born a certain way. Yes, I don’t like “kill all men” and “not a man but always a man” comments. Even if those comments are made out of venting, I’m still a man myself and if I don’t want to see those words, then I don’t have to and I have a right to not be in those spaces while still advocating for women’s rights.
I’m African American and me using AAVE *once* doesn’t mean that I’m faking my blackness. I come straight from Louisiana, mind you. It’s disgusting how white democrats on this platform can just make up whatever they want about a minority and their followers will jump onto it with no further explanation. (This is specifically for Democratblr to read, the rest of you can skip this one)
The last two are seemingly together, so I’ll tackle them both with one statement (this one). First of all, I didn’t really “make” any content of my own and even if I did, it was mostly agreeing with the headcanons or commenting positive things under my friends’ art. One of my friends made most of the content and I loved how he drew Stephens (plus how he drew Davis despite me hating the man).
Second of all (putting this in its own category), *you all ship slave owners and make headcanons about them*. Washington owned slaves and despised when they escaped, Hamilton profited off of the slave trade, and Lafayette was friends with both. And if we’re talking about ACW, then… *those Unionists were mostly racists themselves too*.
What is this imaginary line of “good slave owner” to be a fandomite about to “bad slave owner”? Because I’m not going to follow it at all. I have “problematic favorites” (Alexander H Stephens and Stonewall Jackson) but mainly because they’re interesting to learn about and take lessons from of what not to do in life.
I read both a biography on Stephens and his prison diary. They opened my eyes to how complex he is as a person but how terrible he still turned out as an individual. Instead of keeping his misery to himself, he inflicted on people more vulnerable than him to get ahead in life.
Stonewall Jackson mainly taught me to not let religion control my decisions all the time, not to follow someone who’s older than me 100% or else I’ll remain in their shadow, and to speak up whenever I’m dealing with something mental (because I’ll die on the hill that he was suffering from some kind of mental disorder/disability).
I ship for accuracy, not because I like two people and want them to be together. You can’t just assume that people ship the same way as you. I’ll ship whatever I see historically makes sense.
Finally, if you don’t like “bad people” getting queer headcanons then… too bad. Being queer doesn’t automatically mean that you’re a good person at all. Being queer just means that it’s apart of your identity. Stephens can be FtM/transmasc and still a terrible racist. Queerness doesn’t care about how good someone is. You can be queer while being terrible.
That’s all, I just needed to get rid of some rumors that keep being said about me on this platform.
