Cinderella was well aware that she did not have a malicious bone in her body, and perhaps that was why the captain's teasing stung more than she cared to admit. She understood that he likely meant no real harm by it, that it was simply part of his nature to provoke and jest, but that did little to soften the effect of his words. Heat rose to her cheeks as she lowered her gaze for only a fleeting moment, her fingers absentmindedly smoothing the fabric of her dress. It reminded her far too much of the countless remarks her stepmother had thrown at her throughout the years—subtle jabs disguised as observations, criticisms wrapped in mock concern. Though the captain's intentions were undoubtedly different, the feeling it awakened inside her was painfully familiar. With a gentle sigh, she lifted her head again, offering him a small but knowing look. "You do enjoy making people flustered, don't you, Captain?" she asked softly, her voice carrying no anger, only quiet reproach.

Just as she had done beneath her stepmother's roof, Cinderella refused to cry. She had learned long ago that tears only encouraged those who wished to wound her, and so she had built herself a quiet resilience that few ever noticed. Even when words pierced her heart, she met them with grace instead of bitterness. Still, enduring hurt did not mean she enjoyed it. She disliked the way she was being spoken to, yet the thought of openly confronting him felt foreign to her. Cinderella had spent so many years swallowing her discomfort for the sake of peace that voicing her feelings felt almost selfish. Instead, she simply folded her hands neatly before her, offering him a polite smile that concealed the ache beneath it. She hoped, perhaps naively, that he might notice the faint sadness in her eyes on his own and realize that his teasing had crossed a line she was too gentle to point out herself.

"Really? You like my dress?" Cinderella asked, surprise flickering across her face before melting into a warm, genuine smile. Her fingers instinctively brushed over the soft pink fabric, smoothing out an imaginary wrinkle as if she were seeing it through his eyes for the first time. "It belonged to my mother," she admitted, her voice carrying a quiet fondness. "It wasn't always like this, though. My friends helped alter it to suit my own taste. They insisted I should wear something that felt like me, while still keeping a piece of her close." She gave a small twirl, the skirt fanning out gracefully around her ankles before settling once more. "I absolutely adore it. Every stitch reminds me that even after everything, there are still people who care."

Her bright blue eyes drifted upward to meet the captain's once more before they were inevitably drawn to the gleaming hook that had become as legendary as the man himself. Instead of fear or discomfort, there was only curiosity and quiet admiration in her expression. A small smile tugged at the corners of her lips.

"I must admit..." she said with a soft laugh, "I never imagined I would receive a compliment from the famous Captain Hook of all people." There was no mockery in her tone—only honest amazement. "People tell all sorts of stories about you. They make you sound larger than life, almost like a character from one of the fairy tales I used to read by candlelight." Tilting her head ever so slightly, she added, "Though somehow, standing here now, you seem... rather different from the man in those stories."

For a brief moment, Cinderella looked at him thoughtfully before smiling again, her kindness as effortless as ever. "So... thank you. Your compliment means more than you probably realize."

Anna's shoulders sagged in relief at the offer, though the worry on her face did not disappear completely.

"Oh, thank you! Really, thank you!" she said quickly, as she glanced around frantically, hoping that Sven would just appear on his own and look entirely innocent.

"His name is Sven and he is very sweet and loyal so you do not have to be afraid. He usually does not just wander off" she continued before pausing, "Well, mostly" Anna added with a wince as she pressed a hand to her forehead.

"Kristoff is going to be so worried. or annoyed, even. I mean... he trusted me to look after Sven today and then I went and lost him, which I am not sure was actually my fault...but definitely not my finest moment" she rambled on as she looked back at Cinderella with a hopeful smile forming on her lips.

"He loves carrots, so if you have any please bring them with you!" Anna added as she started down the path, glancing back just enough to make sure that Cinderella was following.

Ella looked at the stranger with a soft chuckle, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. The corners of her lips lifted into a warm smile, the kind that came naturally to her despite the long days she spent working around the house.

"My name is Ella," she introduced herself. "Though everyone calls me Cinderella in this house." There was a hint of amusement in her voice as she said it, as though she had long since grown accustomed to the nickname. Tilting her head, she tapped a finger against her forehead in thought.

"Hmm... I do think I have some carrots left from the stew I made earlier. Sven would probably like those." Her eyes brightened at the idea. "Give me just a moment."

Without waiting for a response, she hurried back inside. The familiar sounds of the house surrounded her as she crossed the kitchen. After searching through a basket near the counter, she found several fresh carrots that had been set aside. Gathering them into her apron, she quickly returned outside.

"There we are," Ella said proudly, holding up the carrots. "Hopefully these will help us lure him out."

She handed a few to her companion before keeping the rest for herself. With their supplies gathered, the two set off together in search of Anna's reindeer, Sven. The afternoon air was crisp, and the path stretched ahead of them as they searched for any sign of the wandering animal. Every now and then Ella called out his name, while keeping an eye on the ground for hoofprints.

"If he's anything like the horses I've cared for," she mused as they walked, "he can't be too far from food."

The carrots swung lightly in her hand as they continued their search, hopeful that before long they would spot a pair of antlers poking up from behind a bush—or perhaps find Sven already sniffing the air, having caught the scent of his favorite treat.
