Maybe I’ll check it out one of these days. If I tell her I met a church boy too, then my mother would really think I hit the jackpot.

Yeah, my parents were over the moon the first time Bradley came over. And you know? It weirdly instills this...sense of trust in them? Like, oh, you’re seeing a boy from church, you can do no wrong. So it’s a win-win. 

It’s only Monday and I already feel like a train hit me. I can’t even keep track of my caffeine intake for the day, and yet, I’m barely awake. Is there a cold or anything going around school? I really, really don’t want to get sick.

I’m extra whiny when I am– just FYI. And demanding.

There better not be one. But I wouldn’t be surprised...I feel like something always goes around at the beginning of fall. Do you need anything? Chicken soup? Tea?

You might call it girls night, but I call it therapy

Amelia was glad that she and Chloe decided to hang out because she was in serious need of a girls night. And with her fellow romantic - it was going to be the perfect night. The two hadn’t really hung out all that often considering everything that Amelia was going through and pushing everyone away that mattered. It felt easier to do that than to face the reality that things were just not okay in her life. She grabbed her bag off the table at Nate’s before grabbing her keys and heading in the familiar direction of the Alpin residence. It was a drive that she had taken plenty of times before and it was something that she could find in her sleep.

It didn’t take her long before she was pulling her car into the driveway and parking. Instead of getting out as soon as she got there she sat in her car for a few minutes with the music blasting. She didn’t know why she felt so nervous because it was Chloe - one of her best friends and someone that she found so similar to herself that it was crazy. They instantly clicked and it was something that she cherished to this day. She sat in the parking spot for a good ten minutes before she grabbed her bag and headed to the door.

She knocked a couple of times and sent Chloe a quick text in case she was home alone and didn’t hear the knock on the door. She rocked back and forth on her heels until she saw the door open and the girl standing in front of her. “You don’t know how bad I need a girls night.”

It was only natural for Mrs. Alpin to start rushing around the house, making sure it was set for a ‘sleepover’ despite Chloe’s pleads and assurances that her and Amelia would just be staying in her room the entire night. Still, she folded the blanket that had been left strewn over the couch, straightened out the kitchen, and put together some snacks for the two of them. Chloe was thoroughly embarrassed, her cheeks flushed red as she followed her mother around the house and told her it was okay, she didn’t need to do that, but she couldn’t help but smile at the fact that her mother cared so much. Above all, she was pretty grateful. 

By the time her phone chimed with a text from Amelia outside, the house was quiet. Her younger brother had fallen asleep a while ago, and Mr. and Mrs. Alpin were in bed with their door closed — light seeping through from under the crack of the door meaning they were probably up reading, and listening to make sure it was in fact Amelia coming over. Not that Chloe ever lied to them. Well, she never used to. 

Youth group! My mother would love to hear me report that back as one of my extracurriculars. And I’ve gotta say, those woods seem mighty popular out here, you’re not the first to mention them.

I don’t mind the quiet life just yet, so far this town has been a nice change of pace for me.

I know it might sound hard to believe, but it’s actually pretty funny. And there’s cute guys. Particularly our youth pastor. 

Mia: i would say that it's probably false whatever was said, but ya know i don't think it is. Tonight?

Mia: well thanks, chlo. i appreciate that.

Mia: i know but it's hard to think that way. there is always the thought in the back of my head like i could have.

To yourself or to everyone else? Well, I’m glad. And I’d be even happier if we could keep having fun this semester. Tequila optional.
