I've started writing my first fan fic tonight and wow, this is incredibly difficult and I am even more impressed by the large body of works on AO3. My degree is in the English language and my career focuses heavily on an analytical read of information that is then presented in a formal, heavily cited report. I'm actually in report development at work right now, and it's genuinely more difficult to stare at the screen and will myself to bring these characters to life than it is to cite every single sentence I write at work. (Every. Single. One.)

I'm more frustrated with myself now for not writing in college. I mean- I did, but it was entirely for school. I wrote essay after essay with nothing but success. It's what led me to the open door of my career in an otherwise terrifyingly brutal job market. But I never wrote for pleasure.

I enjoyed the deep satisfaction of finishing an essay and seeing my arguments come to fruition, don't get me wrong, but it's not the same. So many stories and poems lived in the back of my mind as I zoned out watching whatever YouTube rerun at night because I was too exhausted to keep thinking.

Arguably, I'm working harder than I did in college. I can't keep making excuses for why I can't write. Truthfully, I'm so rusty. I haven't written for purely fictional purposes in well over a decade, probably. I folded my creativity into my analytical writing and never looked back. I regret not forcing myself through the awkward fears I had towards creative writing the past few years, because those fears haven't gone away. I'm just dealing with them now, rather than before.

Even if we say that Rachel and Chloe were together officially (Which we don't actually know,) and they were madly in love with each other (Which we don't actually know from Rachel's end,) I still think there's no way Chloe wouldn't feel instant affection at seeing Max again, even if it was strictly platonic.

Max was the person who was there for her before anyone was. She's someone who connects Chloe to the person she was before William, and Max moving away, and her estrangement from Joyce. While Chloe obviously loves Rachel, there's nothing about Rachel that actually changes the fact that Max is Chloe's childhood best friend who helps her tap into a version of herself that liked to play pirates and draw boobs on boy band trading cards.

Rachel is loved by Chloe, but Max has always been loved by Chloe and nothing could change that.

But even without that hypothetical, we see Chloe prioritizing Max, sometimes even more than Rachel, more than once in the actual games.

Chloe will change her phone screensaver from Rachel to Max (Which is extra crazy when we remember Rachel is missing 💀) if Max agrees with her enough times.

In Episode 5, Chloe will abandon her plans to avenge Rachel once Max tells her that Jefferson hurt her.

In the junkyard in BTS, if she hits the mannequin she'll say "Fuck you Rachel," but when she hits the camera she won't be able to bring herself to say fuck Max. Instead she'll say "fuck cameras."

Joyce will tell Max that despite having Rachel these past five years, Chloe has been telling her Mom that she wishes she could be be more like Max.

In Chloe's room, we can see that she kept a lot from Max, old artwork and photos and general keepsakes. Even after five years of no contact, she couldn't let her memory go.

Rowling believes that she has a right to commit sexual violence against women she believes don't deserve rights or safety.

Her response to receiving criticism on posting said upskirt was to essentially argue that the trans woman had it coming and as was basically asking for it because of what she was wearing.

Someone I have worked with for a decade is retiring. He and I have been close- we’ve traveled together, shared meals, talked about our families and our hobbies, spent time. We text. We talk. We’ve know each other for ten years.

I went looking for a gift for his retirement, and found a watch that relates to the specific kind of car that he works on as a hobby. I bought it, and then invited people to chip in if they wanted.

My coworkers are acting like this is miraculous?

“How did you think of that?” I knew he had a hobby and I googled it?

“How did you know he works on those?” I listen to people when they talk.

“How do you always buy such good gifts?” I listen when people talk to me. Most people are dying to talk about their interests. You just have to give them an in. If your memory sucks, start a note in your phone and write down what people express interest in. Look at it every so often before you hang out to refresh your memory.

“I never would have thought of that.” I didn’t, really. I just spent 20 minutes looking at eBay and Etsy and a few subreddits. It’s easy if you try.

What if every parking lot had solar panels? What if every structure had solar panels? What if we built climbing gyms and terraced gardens in the skeletons of old coal power plants?

What if you baked your neighbor bread, and they shared their home-grown blackberries?

What if every person who needed a home, had one? What if every person who needed healing was healed?

What if every body was treasured for what it was, not what it should be?

What if every trans child's parents attended their graduation, their wedding, their new-name-day?

What if every warehouse became a closed-circle repair station? Goods flowing out, and back, and out again? What if landfills started to SHRINK?

What if the water and air were clean? What if there was enough public transit that the cars dwindled, leaving the streets safe for kids on bikes, evening deer, midnight cats and foxes?

What if we win?

And people who supported them are going to say that they had no idea that ICE could be that bad.
