Stormé DeLarverie is a hero and it changed my life to read about her for the first time in LC, so it’s painful to see her name missing from posts that are supposed to be calling out the erasure of lgbt people of color from the Stonewall uprising story. Being a lesbian is extremely scary in this stretch of time. When I was at my volunteer interview, they asked if I would be comfortable working for an explicitly lesbian organization since that wording can be seen as “exclusionary” these days and can put volunteers at risk of being seen as a bigot. It’s so wild how things went downhill so fast for us.

The problem with this is Pride isn’t for gay people. It’s for all who under the LGBT* umbrella. That includes Ace people. Being respectful, especially in a public space, isn’t a bad idea.

Pride is for gay people. If “asexuals” don’t like it they can fuck all the way off and stay away. It’s not for them and never has been.

Bi people are same-sex attracted, it’s not explicitly for them if they’re in long-term het relationships but they’re welcome to participate and heterosexual trans people added themselves later. But yes, Pride is for gay people. If the expression of same-sex attraction makes you “uncomfortable” then we don’t want you there.

I’m gay so I don’t have an issue with expression of same- sex attraction. But no matter what your sexual orientation making out with someone in a public place surrounded by people is tacky. It’s not just disrespectful to any ace people there, but everyone.

Yes. I went to San Francsico Pride a few years ago. It was fun but some of the conduct there by some of the attendees left a lot to be desired. One guy was naked with just tin- foil over his genitals. Actually, there were a couple naked gay guys there, but I digress. It was very sex- focused. We could stand to tone it down not just for ace people, but to create a welcoming atmosphere to other LGBT people that aren’t so about sex.

It’s a party and a celebration. If youre uncomfortable then go home, they’re not doing anything illegal.
