Sounds gruesome to some degree but when you think about the times when all hope is lost, you get stuck in a bottomless void. It's almost impossible to get out of that void without hope for the future. For me, when I felt hopeless I just wanted to sleep and never wake up. It's hard to move on and hope for a brighter future. Especially with the shit going on right now that left me venting in my car earlier XD It's so freaking. difficult. just to even think "man I'm hoping someday I can overcome x".

But that's the thing with hope and God: they are the same thing. In the time of the minor prophets, all they could do is pray for God to make a move. People fell away from the Lord and the prophets pointed said sins out, reminding them of the Day of the Lord is coming (ie Revelation). But it was hard to hear that kind of stuff when it's easier to fall to sin. When Jesus came into people's lives, it was hard to believe after all of this waiting their hope and salvation was through Him. Until He died and rose again. It was then the major realization of "wait this IS the prophecy that was foretold by these prophets are coming true!!" and hope was renewed. We now have hope and truth that we get to be with Christ again after so many centuries of suffering and pain! How freaking awesome is that!!

Long story short: It's hard to keep hope, regardless of where you are in life. But we need it to keep moving forward. Hope that Christ will come anytime like how he had in the past keeps me moving forward (that's what Revelation is all about, reassuring all Christians that evil will be finally vanquished for good). There's so much pain and suffering in the world, that letting it get to us doesn't solve anything.

And sure, there are plenty of women, gay men and people of all sorts who are attracted to to this specific type, even exclusively attracted to it, there is so much more variety in this, both in the tastes and their subjects.

The stereotype of "hot wife, ugly husband"-couples was drawn from the observations of straight men, from their own perspective. Women going after men that men find unattractive makes no sense to them, and they figure that women are willing to overlook being ugly if a man's funny, smart or rich enough. If a woman insists that she's attracted to a specific man who isn't attractive by their standards, they'll assume that she's lying.

The tragic part is when a man who believes himself to be ugly grows bitter over this, developing a foul personality which people do find repulsive, and then uses their repeated experiences of being romantically rejected as proof that they're physically unattractive, insisting that surely women would overlook his heinousness if only he was tall and muscular enough, and had the right bone structure. The self-feeding vicious cycle of being a bitter incel is born.
