um, as to how I do it, that's a good question. I did film a like, explanation but it was like 14 minutes of me just rambling, so let me know if you want me to post that lol, but to boil it down,

I also am kind of just learning how to render better, like those prettily rendered pieces you're probably talking about I did yesterday are only that pretty because I HEAVILY used reference images of pictures of friends/ family. Proportion-wise I literally traced their faces and poses then edited it slightly to fit the characters more, especially in my klance drawing I had to edit lance quite a bit.

Rendering wise I'm still learning how to do it like that but I'd highly recommend looking at references when learning to render and stuff, and definitely try and focus on the light source and where the light is come from!! Also what colours are around it, cause light often bounces off the things around it putting that colour onto other things, so if you look at a photo of someone wearing a bright blue shirt you might notice around their neck and face near it it might be a more purple, blue or green tone (depending what shade of blue and what type of lighting)

Also a tip that's really helped bring all my drawings together is having a coloured background and matching the colours you use to that. Or even if you're drawing on paper, trying to just create a unified colour palette by using colours that are a similar sort of tone, like if you're using a cool, unsaturated blue, don't use a really saturated, warm red, instead use a less saturated cool red?

But more than anything, practice!!

I've only been really drawing A LOT for about six years now, and honestly, as much as it sucks to hear, sticking at it, even if you hate your art at times and don't wanna continue, is the only way for it to get better! I know at times it can feel like it won't improve, I myself have struggled with that, but it will get better with time, practice and muscle memory.

I really recommend looking at and using references!! (If you're posting make sure to credit any artists you may have used as reference of may have traced) Because the muscle memory of it can really help!!

Overall just have fun, practice, and I am so sorry this was probably not helpful at all!!! I kinda just wing it ngl.
