#nadiart #rough art #qela #sulum #firi #that firi sulum doodle looks too white 😭 brother i'm sorry i fucked up your face real bad attempting to elf it #part of the problem with going too far away from human-like is that i'm not much of a furry.#the other problem is that i am essentially trying to do what freaking avatar already did but minus 90% of the aesthetic trappings #which is to say the almost human face shape with the broad nose bridge and so on—the catgirls....#but also i cannot just do that—#the real problem is that i both want them to look slightly less human but also i'm not interested in entirely un-human designs #and i prefer the uncanny valley or things that are slightly unusual looking but not to the point of being unrecognizable as human #and ALSO that i have such an established design for Qela and the Firi in general that it's very hard to bring it further away from human #while still retaining e.g. qela's facial features #tbh that's part of why i brought up avatar because i do think they did a really good job at capturing actors' likenesses #while still having them be... blue catgirl elves #the problem is they ARE good character designs for fantasy and stuff! just not if you want Hard SciFi or whatever #but it's hard to not be like ugh i don't want people to compare me to that unfavorably lmao #not fanart

Did another character "art"

It's just the base lines and I might fix it in digital but if you ever see a Jessica "Jess" Spencer across any of my works, this is what she looks like. She's designed to work across just about any reality I might throw her into.

Chaotic good alignment, violently bisexual, trolling haters and naysayers is her day job (it's not), fast learner, and great with tech. She basically has all my chaotic ADHD energy combined with being aggressively Australian. Usually aged between 21-28 depending on the setting.

She's the first character I ever drew with a ponytail and I haven't really changed her design since first drawing her in 2015. Might use this pic to do a digital version in IbisPaint later but eh, here's The Girl.
