since i cant seem to stop with the bagginshield please imagine this it’s a few months into the expedition, probably a while after the trolls. the company is getting breakfast (leftover stew i guess) and bilbo says something typically bilbo-esque, horribly witty, under his breath that only thorin hears, thorin almost chokes, bilbo thinks he’s dying, he’s making awful wheezing noises, turns out he’s just laughing and the entire company just stops and marvels at this serious king figure silently and gracelessly losing his shit over something bilbo never meant anyone to hear
