Particularly in the realm of both of them recognizing traits they share, but Robert refusing to acknowledge that he was mistreated as a child in any way. He knows his childhood wasn’t normal by any stretch of the imagination, but admitting that the way his dad raised him was wrong will lead to a whole lot of other issues he’s not keen on processing.

Still, even without fully acknowledging it Robert is a lot better at speaking with and understanding Coupé than anyone really expected him to be, which leads to a lot of noticing something is up with Robert. The way Coupé treats Robert would change too I think, especially once she starts to respect him more. Things like purposefully making noise when she enters a room, or staying within his line of sight when they’re in the same room.

So the court of owls was behind the prolonged memory loss, right? It’s been a while since I’ve read it, I might have my details fuzzy, but I’m pretty sure it was the court that kept him from regaining his memories.

So maybe instead of the clusterfuck that was the Ric Grayson arc, what if instead he did manage to get captured/recruited by the court? And he became a talon?

And suddenly we’re following his talon training, his assignments from the court once he’s a talon, how he interacts with the Gotham vigilantes as a talon.

And then you see the other Batfam members start to think, hey, this new rogue moves very familiarly. There is something eerily familiar about him, in fact, but what could it be? Why, he almost reminds them of Dick. But no, that can’t be right. He’s in Blüdhaven. He doesn’t remember who he is. It can’t be.

But let’s go check on him just in case. Maybe we can try to slowly reintroduce ourselves to him too, so we can get our brother back.

But oh oopsie, Dick has been missing for weeks now. Maybe months. Gone without a trace. Time for the world’s greatest detective and his little flock of birds to figure out wtf is going on.

And they find out Dick is the new Talon. They have to take down the Court. Maybe they break whatever brainwashing Dick is under, and then you have Dick using his Talon training against the Court that tortured him and turned him into an assassin.
