I just want to say
Anyone can look up the crimes of Frensh occupation in Algeria .. things were terribly brutal and traumatizing , just as they are Brutal and traumatizing now in Gaza but there was no social media and ofc the whole west supported French colonialism.. however when people in algeria started fighting colonialism using a bunch of handmade bombs and old rusty weapons they were called terrorists.. they were really called terrorists even tho France had massacred OVER, AND I CANT STRESS THE WORD "OVER" ENOUGH 7 million civilians throughout 132 years , took lands from it's rightful owners, and used illegal weapons and did not only kill but TORTURED CIVILIANS SEVERLY and used electric shocking, burning people alive, gas chambers (they locked families with their own animals inside a cave and closed the entrances and started a fire for people to die slowly) , they cut off organs and did so much worse and really you can look everything up and read the testimonies of French historians and generals themselves, and you can see actual pictures of tortured Algerians . when all that was happening no one even dared to call the French anything or to condemn them . However, when these people stood to resist (by the way they tried peaceful protesting before, and the result was france killing over 45000 protestors in the massacres of May the 8th and u can look it up).. anyway.. my ancestors were called terrorists back then for fighting against the French barbaric colonials. only after we gained out independence were they recognized by the world as freedom fighters.. it's just something that I thought was important to say. And it's happening again in Palestine. No one has ever condemned the Israeli terrorism and crimes against palestians for over 70 years, but when a single militant group decided to do something about it the whole world started calling them terrorists and justifying the ethnic cleansing of gaza because of what that single group did (by the way the victims in Gaza were all civilians and mostly women and children. They didn't even target hamas militants whom they knew lived under tunnels, so the goal was clearly to wipe out civilians since they're the ones living above the tunnels) . Remember that Algerian freedom fighters were called terrorists once, that Irish resistance against colonialism and injustice was also viewed as an act of terrorism, that Nelson Mandela was also called a terrorist, that native Americans were once called savages , that black Africans were also seen as savages and less of humans which made it totally acceptable for COLONIALS to capture, torture, kill, and enslave them .. Remember how throughout history, the average white westerner had never been on the right side until the oppressed managed to free themselves, and to humanize themselves in the eyes of the west( Not that they weren't humans or that they needed to do anything to be elevated to human-level, they were always human, and they will always be, they simply spoke and wrote in the language of the oppressor to show them that they were also humans and that they had cultures and civilizations ..Remember Chinwa Achebe, Remember Martin Luther King, Remember Malek Haddad, Remember Edward Said, Remember Nelson Mandela, Remember Ghandi, Remember Mahmoud Derwish , Remember Ghassan AL Kanafani, Remember Frantz Fannon...
and Remember how the world viewed them back then and how the world views them now.. the question is.. for how long do we need to wait ? And how many more people need to be brutally killed before we see things for what they truly are and take a stand on the right side of history and the right side of humanity?
