So I’ve um’ed and ah’ed and RAEG’ed over this question for long enough to try and make a sensible, non-wrathful reply, and for all I know, Mr/Ms Greyface, you’re not being facetious at all and in fact are honestly curious, in which case I apologise for not answering this super-quick. But anyway:

I do not hate social justice. REPEAT: I do not hate social justice!

The social justice movement on the whole is a fantastic thing. Giving the marginalised a voice is never a bad thing at all! Fighting against all sorts of discrimination is great! Helping each other understand each other is made of win! Working towards a better world is AWESOME. I love social justice!

What I don’t like, is Tumblr Social Justice, which bears as much relation to actual social justice as pears do to apples. Tumblr Social Justice is a fandom that is vicious and counterproductive, where hate is rampant, where flat-out bullying is given a free pass disguised as “calling out”, where misrepresentations of media are turned into Big Issues, it’s slacktivism where doing nothing but saying all the “right” things (as according to the fandom) is supposedly helpful progress, where attention-seekers are allowed to shout at the top of their lungs while the marginalised themselves are often silenced.

Tumblr Social Justice is only beneficial to those in the Tumblr Social Justice fandom.
