sarek and amanda have to miss their sonās wedding/fight to the death because of ambassadorial reasons. they hear from sarekās aunt that spock not only survived an unmated pon farr, but was shocked out of it upon thinking he killed his captain/partner-of-ambiguous-relation.
three weeks later they get to meet their new son-in-law, who has no idea what kind of family heās unknowingly married intoā¦
YEP! can you FUCKING imagine? sarek and amanda come aboard and kirk has NO IDEA who they are. the AUDACITY of spock to not only undergo the ceremony without them* in attendance AND to not mention them to his (presumed) bondmate?Ā
(*because, letās be honest, spock waited until the absolute LAST minute to get down to vulcan, right as he was consumed by the plak tow. he could have asked jim to turn the ship around sooner but he was too busy being embarrassed by Vulcan Biology. Iām sure he could have scheduled in such a way that his parents could have made it. Honestly, Iām not even sure if you have to be in pon farr to be bonded? Pretty sure Spock put it off the wedding as long as he could because heās gay. His solemn āI have to take a wife :(ā speech to kirk solidifies that headcanon for me.)
