Just saw the interview where Curry Barker explained that it's totally possible to get a normal wish from the One Wish Willow, and I love the way they did that so much. The reason Obsession happened isn't because it's trying to twist Bear's desires into something evil. It's not even because he phrased his want wrong. Obsession happened because Bear got his hands on a magic item that could do anything in existence, and chose to force someone to fall in love with him, which is an inherently evil thing to do.

We watched all five Final Destination films and the I am absolutely fascinated by its characterization of death as vindictive and cruel accountant.

This is perhaps the least introspective series I’ve ever seen. It answers no questions because it raises no questions. The central theme of these movies are, “god this would suck.” And they don’t even pretend these guys are all gonna make it. You’re fucked and you were always fucked. This series is about the sheer inevitability of death as an evil force. It’s like if gravity hated you. It’s so depersonalized. There is no one monster to defeat because anything can kill you. The film’s most present onscreen antagonist is OSHA violations.
