Not to doomsay, but just putting it out there now: Please be respectful and understanding of the devs and Squeenix team during Endwalker launch. Right now we are in a "perfect storm" situation and I'm sure they're already expecting a lot of stress during launch week. Shadowbringers was regarded as one of the best FF titles in many ways, and its success combined with Covid lockdown meant a major uptick in active playerbase. The free trial meme, WoW Shadowlands' flopping, general distaste towards Actiblizz due to recent events, and one of the biggest WoW streamers switching to FFxiv has meant that within the short span of time since the last major patch, the playerbase has grown even more. The entire Aether datacenter is now "congested". This is the first time a whole datacenter has been given this tag. Previously, this happened with Balmung due to it being the primary RP hub, and overflow went to Mateus before the Crystal DC split and cross-world travel. All crystal worlds are currently "Preferred". Most importantly: The semiconductor shortage due to Covid-borne factory and harbor shut-downs on top of poor decisions from the auto industry, on top of Japanese factory fires and the Texas storm means its incredibly difficult for Squeenix to get a hold of the hardware they need to expand servers. Taiwan is where chips for most of our gaming tech comes from (like Ps5's and GPU's) and severe drought conditions have impacted production. Squeenix has a little less than 3 months to get a hold of what they need in order to expand servers in the US. This means that even though they have the money and experience to combat something like this, and were likely monitoring their playerbase before the sudden unexpected "WoW refugee" uptick, they aren't easily able to get the resources to prepare for it, and this player surge happened so close to expansion release. When Endwalker drops, you're going to see another surge as players currently unsubscribed return as they usually do for new content. Should Endwalker release be rough: Please, PLEASE do not put any long queue times, disconnects, "Raubahn (Ultimate)" or any other issues purely related to server strain on Yoshi-P and the dev team. They are doing and will do all that they can, but the surge in players and semiconductor issues are things they can't control. I would also advise being cautious of any social media you interact with during release. This includes Facebook groups, comment sections on official FFxiv social media posts, r/ffxiv, and larger non-insular Discords. There's bound to be uproar from people who need someone to blame and get angry at: save your emotional energy.

OOC post. Some of you will recognize this information and who its about. Its all true, and its important for players from any and all gaming communities to be aware and on the look out for this player and others like him. As is said int he screenshots, it may seem the better thing to not be public or speak out or reblog things like this. But that’s how people like him continue to find more victims and more people to sue and manipulate. The internet does not make this behavior okay, or any less heinous then if it was happening in a bar or on the street or someplace else in person. Don’t remain silent, and spread the word so that guilds and gaming communities and players can stay safe on the web. For those of you that don’t recognize the character names of Eidolon/Alyxandaer or Annexious, you may know Elendenal Pendragon, or other characters with the Pendragon surname in Guild Wars 2. All are the same person documented here. It isn’t glamorous to spread the word like this, but its the right thing to do, so pass it on. I’ve known a couple players now that have been victims of him. Don’t be silent.

Signal boosting. There’s apparently a rumor he’s on Mateus now, so please be careful (he seems to have abandoned his Balmung character since attention was called to it).

Kind of sad all the trash from Balmung is fleeing to escape their bullshit but they won’t be able to hide for long. As an aside I am not one for call outs posts but this guy is human garbage, I really don’t feel bad at all.

Pro Tip on finding Annexious’s characters: They will usually be in a guild named after his character. Also, the names are usually shitty latin names that meaning something edgy or just plain ridiculous sounding.

I’m not on Mataeus but I’ve seen people like him… keep an eye out! 

Yeah, definitely don’t call this dude “Balmung trash.” He seems to have hardly played on Balmung or FFXIV in general. He is present in just about every MMO RP community (and even apparently some RP forums) and has been for a decade, and you can add TERA to the list up there of MMO’s where he has harassed others. Here are some lists of his names and profiles: 1 | 2 (Feel free to message me if there’s anything else to add to mine) For anyone wanting specific evidence or instances of his behavior, a simple Google or tumblr search of “Annexious” is your friend. He is predatory, manipulative, and abusive and will try to threaten, bully, and intimidate you if you speak out against him. Which is exactly why we should, because his behavior needs to be known and we need to not let him harass his victims into silence.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but whether you’re a lifelong Final Fantasy fan or Final Fantasy XIV is your first and only game of the series, you belong in this community and I hope you’re enjoying the game!!
