but give me the tenderness of “let us take you to rest someplace comfortable.”

Being forced to say/do something against their true thoughts/emotions/values

The whumper has installed themselves in the heroes' team and targets the whumpee for "correction", falsely telling them they've been given the authority to discipline them for "misbehaviour" and does so at the smallest "slight" or just whenever they feel like it. This, obviously, isn't how the team works at all. The whumpee, for whatever reason, believes this is how things work and wouldn't dare bringing it up with their teammates for fear of further punishments/disappointing them.

Battle Injury/Self sacrifice: Whumpee with a concerning martyr complex steps in front of caretaker to protect them and gets impaled by the enemy's sword in their place. Caretaker watches in horror as whumpee goes limp and caretaker is covered in whumpee's blood. Post battle, caretaker feels immense guilt and worry as they treat unconscious whumpee.

Your whumpee was treated like a burden for being sick by their old team, so now they bottle everything up to not re-live the bullying they received for being weak (they were just incredibly unlucky to pick up an illness that lingered for far too long...)
The new team are horrified to learn this.
"And how were you going to deal with this exactly?" The caretaker asks, gesturing vaguely at the state of the whumpee, who lay buried beneath layers of blankets but still feels like they're freezing. It can't be doing their fever any good.
"Was just gonna... wait it out. S'what my old team made me do. Jus' had to- keep my head down and wait for it to pass. S'fine. I'm fine.. Jus' don't be mad, alright? 'm'sorry."
The caretakers heart almost shatters as they shake their head. "We don't do that around here, pal. You taken anything?"
The whumpee just groans.
"Alright, hang tight, alright? I'll be back in a sec."

"Broken leg? Good, that means the idiot can't run away while I yell at them."
Not for the Whump game, I already sent in one of those, but I had a curiosity. I'm into medical whump, mainly cardiac, but regardless of the type.. When the one taking care of the whumpee knows JUST ENOUGH to be afraid to 'screw up' and simultaneously becomes so distraught that the whumpee has to become the caretaker FOR the caretaker? How do you feel about that scenario?
I love scared caretakers. Especially in caretaker-turned-whumpee situations, where the normal calm one is the one hurt, and the normal whumpee is attempting to help. I love it when the caretaker in the situation is terrified of making things worse.
There's so much to play with that dynamic. The injured one carefully walking them through each step, reassuring them if they're about to panic, encouraging deep breaths. Pained, through gritted teeth, but still so focused on keeping their friend calm.
And an inexperienced (or just enough experienced) caretaker, attempting something terrifying (removal of a dangerous impaled object, creation of a cure for a poison, sutures, you mentioned you enjoy cardiac whump, so perhaps a carotid sinus massage), because they know exactly how little they know.

Whumpee who survives, escapes, begins to heal, finds a cause and a new found family, and just tries to forget any of it happened.
Only to come to work one day and learn that their cause’s newfound benefactor is Whumper. They’ve become vital to the cause, through money/connections/supplies/intel. They’re starting to befriend Whumpee’s team’s members.
Nowhere feels safe anymore. Whumpee lives in constant fear of ending up in a room alone with Whumper, of being followed home. They’re too paranoid to be of much use to the group. The whole team notices, but Whumpee refuses to tell them what’s wrong, forces themself to treat Whumper like a casual acquaintance. Because if the team knew, they’d oust Whumper in a second, and too many lives are depending on the benefits Whumper brings to the cause.
(Or maybe, the Team would decide Whumpee wasn’t worth the loss and get rid of them instead. And even if it means falling back into Whumper’s clutches, they refuse to lose another family)

"Just five minutes. I need five minutes." The whumpee says as they're about to pass out mid-task.
As they're biding their own time before The Explosion.
As they're trying to calm themselves down after The Big Reveal.
As they're trying desperately to keep the team together and trying to figure out a plan, but five minutes is far too long, they need to think-
Caretaker's best friend died, and they thought it was their fault. Maybe it really was Caretaker's fault, maybe it wasn't, but regardless, they still blame themselves. Years later, they meet Whumpee. Whumpee doesn't replace Caretaker's old friend (no one could do that), but they become a new friend, and allow Caretaker to forgive themselves and heal. And then Whumpee gets kidnapped. Caretaker won't lose Whumpee like they lost their old friend, so they go to rescue them. They're willing to do anything, kill anyone, burn the world down, just to get Whumpee back.

A whumpee with broken ribs. They just got out of a situation, and Caretaker, who doesn't realize that they were injured, hugs them tightly. Cue Caretaker's frantic apologizing as Whumpee doubles over from the pain in their ribs.
Can’t stop thinking about Whumpee snuggled up in bed under so many soft warm blankets. Maybe even a heated blanket? Pillows like clouds cradling them all around. Their lashes flutter as they dream, sometimes their breath hitches softly, but other than that they hardly move at all.
They’ve been sleeping for days and Caretaker gets worried every now and again. Should they let them keep sleeping? They’ve tip toed into the room every so often to check Whumpee’s pulse, feed them soup and water, but they just fall right back asleep.
They don’t interfere other than that, though. They know Whumpee must be so tired. They leave a nightlight on, adjust the ceiling fan setting, and leave the door ajar, just in case they happen to wake and need something.
Once in the hall, Caretaker breathes a sigh of relief. At least they’re safe now.
