This is an Ares appreciation post because I did him dirty in a previous post.

Ares is undoubtedly the superior Olympian god. He is not only the god of war and courage but civil order and is informally known as the protector of women and cities. He was the patron god of the Amazons and would always support their war efforts. He and his half-sister Artemis were the main gods worshipped in the military state of Sparta. Spartan women had more rights and enjoyed greater autonomy than women in any other Greek city-state of the Classical Period. Ares is the only Olympian god to have never raped anyone and was even put on trial for the murder of Poseidon's sons, who had raped his daughter.
