When you draw a fat character and you change the nature of their fatness away from canon and towards beauty norms, you are still contributing to fatphobia.
When you take Veth’s soft round body and give her thick, visible muscle underneath a thin layer of fat so that her diameter doesn’t change but her body type does? You’re contributing to the problem.
When you take fat from a fat characters neck and transfer it to their boobs and from their belly to their hips, you’re contributing to it.
When you take them down a perceived dress-size or two, or lengthen their limbs and make their proportions closer to a tall skinny person even though they’re still chubby, because short+fat isn’t your thing, it’s still contributing to it.
Tl;dr If you draw a fat character fat but try to “offset” their fatness to make them more palatable, you’re doing the same thing as a billboard ad that skims 6 inches off a model’s butt, and you’re telling people who look at it that this was what you needed to do to their body in order to make their fatness acceptable.
