I saw this step-by step tutorial of how to Gird Your Loins and it needed to be readjusted.
Brown Community: Why is there a lack of apne role models in the community? Why are we so behind?
...
*Brown artist begins putting out their work and expressing themselves*
Brown Community: OMG HOW COULD YOU?? WHAT ABOUT MARRIAGE? WHAT ABOUT SCHOOL? WHAT WILL PEOPLE THINK???? YOU ARE A DISGRACE!
*Brown artist is brought to the brink of exhaustion, and stops putting out their work, or stops creating altogether*

7 billion people experienced this day in a different way
if we were to combine every single day experienced by humanity today and arranged them back to back in a linear arrangement it would take over 19 million years to watch the whole of it. the collective memory of all of us, over one day, is longer than our entire existence as homo sapiens

These are all great recs, except for the trans ones. I’m not sure about Parrotfish, but all the other ones I found to be very problematic, or I’ve heard from other trans readers that they are. Unfortunately there are not many better recs to replace them, but I would check out:
The Unintentional Time Traveler by Everett Maroon (one of the first trans YA books by a trans author)
Pantomime and Shadowplay by Laura Lam (steampunk/fantasy and so so good)
And also for nonbinary, I’d rec Brooklyn, Burning by Steve Brezenoff— a love story in which the protagonist and love interest are never gendered.
Hope you enjoy!
-Vee
I’d also recommend Being Emily and Just Girls by Rachel Gold for YA, and The Collection edited by Tom Leger and Riley Macleod and Nevada by Imogen Binnie for general fiction.
If I were ever to commit a crime, I’d do it on April 1st in an outrageous costume. So when the police are called they’ll be all “hurry a man in a spaghetti costume is robbing the bank” and the police will be all “naw nice try mate”
My little brother was arrested on April fools day and my mum tried telling me. I didn't believe her for a solid two hours. Only when she started crying on the phone and my sister confirmed it did I finally believe her.
You know how 1st world feminists get told that they don’t need feminism? They’re told that they should be glad they’re not “really oppressed” like the women in 3rd world countries. That things could always be worse.
You know what my mother tells me? She says I don’t need feminism because I should be glad I’m born in an urban city of Pakistan. She says, at least I wasn’t born in a rural area where girls are married off to men twice their age. That things could always be worse.
And our house maid, Shabana, who was married to her uncle at 15 and, at 18, has 2 children, she doesn’t even know what feminism is. She was told by her father that she should be glad her husband doesn’t beat her and hasn’t thrown tehzaab (acid) at her. That things could always be worse.
Am I the only one seeing a very disturbing pattern here?

My therapist just told me a joke.
So this girl walks up to another girl and says “Hey, have you heard of the Bechdel Test?”
And the other girl says, “Yeah, my boyfriend was telling me about it the other day!”
SIT DOWN.
i don’t get it
I feel like this is an inside joke that I am not getting
FUCK
See I don’t think bisexuals are like unicorns, I think we’re more like dinosaurs. Because we know they definitely existed but also there are some people who get really mad and defensive and insist that they didn’t exist and it becomes a whole big thing for them and while everyone else looks on and goes ‘you cannot be serious’ it does do actual societal harm when they spew their crap without any critical discourse around it.
And also we’re terrifying giant lizards.
Modern bisexuals have decreased in size and weaponry since the Late Sextaceous Period, but retain many vestiges of their awesome saurian ancestors.
All these lovely ladies weigh 154lbs. We all carry weight differently, don’t live your life by an outdated chart. Find a number that looks and feels good.
TAKE A GOOD LOOK. WEIGHT COMES IN DIFFERENT SHAPES AND SIZES.
This is actually a really lovely artistic reference as well. Also HOLY SHIT NEW REBLOG SYSTEM??? dang.
everyone who bullied me for having thick eyebrows but now fills them in should pay me 20 dollars

it’s been years since i’ve first seen this comic and i still think it has one of the best punchline delivers of anything i’ve ever seen
eternal classic
I think everyone needs to see this because it shows that police don’t only target black men but women as well. Also, how traumatizing it is to go through that.
wow…so sad…
