So Illia's coach Irina more or less stated that he would be switching to represent Croatia and they would speak more about it at some sort of press conference later. However, the press conference doesn't seem to have happened (tbf she never specified a date or time) and I suspect this was a really underhanded way of forcing the Ukrainian fed to give them what they want. Though Croatia's offer is real, that part wasn't a lie. I'm not sure how many times Irina thinks she can do this though before Ukraine has had enough.

The whole thing is just weird and super confusing given how proud Illia has been to represent his home country, not to mention all his tattoos. Lots of really concerning things are being said about Illia. Mostly in the vein that he's a traitor. There also seems to be a number of people saying things like he is being enslaved or is being held hostage by Irina, since he refuses to speak on this matter and only says "talk to my coach." But I suppose their dynamic is a topic for another post.

Sorry but this is absolutely not a girlboss situation, multiple Ukrainian MAG have spoken about her abusive treatment and there is a reason illia is the only person she still coaches (and that's without getting into how fucked up their dynamic is)
