Pakistan Returns ‘Unparalleled’ Cuban Favor
Pakistan will donate 15,000 tons of rice to Cuba as way of thanks for the humanitarian care provided by Cuba after the 2005 earthquake in Kashmir, TeleSur reports.
In an expression of thanks, Pakistan will donate 15,000 tons of rice to Cuba as the Caribbean nation continues to suffer from one of its worst droughts in 115 years.
With more than 70 percent of the Caribbean island’s territory affected by either “severe” or “extreme” drought dependent on location, Cuban rice production is expected to reach just 60 percent of the amount required to satisfy national consumption.
The decision by Islamabad to assist Cuba is a response to the latter’s humanitarianism during the deadly 2005 earthquake that devastated Kashmir, killing over 86,000 people and displacing an estimated 2.8 million.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced the support Wednesday during a ceremony attended by Cuban ambassador to Pakistan, Gabriel Tiel Capote.

“Black America has again been reminded that its children are not seen as worthy of being alive — in part because they are not seen as children at all, but as menacing threats to white lives.
America does not extend the fundamental elements of childhood to black boys and girls. Black childhood is considered innately inferior, dangerous and indistinguishable from black adulthood. Black children are not afforded the same presumption of innocence as white children, especially in life-or-death situations.”
We love you, Tamir. We will fight until you receive justice. #TamirRice #BlackLivesMatter
America didn’t just fail Tamir Rice today. America failed all its black children by making clear yet again that there is no justice, no freedom for black children in the ‘land of the free and just’. Today, I can’t help but remember what Malcolm said, “America’s conscience is bankrupt. She lost all conscience a long time ago. Uncle Sam has no conscience. They don’t know what morals are. They don’t try and eliminate an evil because it’s evil, or because it’s illegal, or because it’s immoral; they eliminate it only when it threatens their existence.“ A system won’t protect those it is meant to exploit.

Women, Culture & Politics
From the very beginning, the myth of ‘American Exceptionalism’ has been rooted in the belief that America is a socially, culturally and politically, superior nation. American Exceptionalism is a palimpsestic ideology: it has been constructed, altered, redefined and reinterpreted countless times throughout the nation’s history. Yet, despite the malleability of the exceptionalist myth, the simple belief, that the United States is both an exceptional and superior nation, has remained a fixed feature of both American civil and political life since the 17th century. Exceptionalism has carved out the nation’s role as a unilateral actor on the international stage, a role which has allowed the United States to act ‘without either the approval of the United Nations or a broad based international coalition’. Today, the myth has grown so powerful, that ‘American Exceptionalism’ is no longer considered to be a fabricated or constructed ideology, but instead, is regarded as an irrefutable truth.
