You may realize I actually said Israel is NOT unique in its evil specifically because I know how antisemitic it is to pretend like it’s the only violent government in the world as the only Jewish nation. And I know that criticism of Israel is easy to co-opt unless you make a bunch of disclaimers. I know this well because I actually am Jewish, and my parents are Israeli immigrants, and every time someone criticizes Israel, I have to side eye them until I can tell if they’re being normal about it, because I agree with some of the criticism! I’m very much a pro-Israel-existing type of person. But also Bibi decided he wanted a genocide instead of a war of defense. I cannot and will not deny the horrors of Oct 7. I’m not buying any old bullshit peddled about this. But in the same way I also can’t deny that the response to it intentionally destructive to innocent lives. If you hate Bibi (which I believe you do!) you don’t need to defend the way he runs this fucking military.

The only reason I sent this message is because you reblogged a post saying it’s insane to call it a genocide. Not even “this is terrible but I don’t think it fits the definition of genocide” or “this is terrible but pragmatic”. Straight up “if you think this is anything like genocide you are insane”. Despite the right wing controlling your nation being very clear on why they are wielding the tools at their disposal in those ways. I am not asking why you defend your nations right to exist or defend yourself. I’m asking why you say things that deny and defend the right wing quest to squash the non terrorist portion of a population (and that INCLUDES the innocent people who they paint as terrorists, because you have to know that not everyone they label as guilty is actually guilty)

The war with Gaza was tragic, regardless of the motives of Bibi & Co. and I do not think every single person in Gaza deserves to suffer for what happened on October 7th. but Israel for sure had every right to respond to the mass slaughter of its citizens and I don't think the accusations of genocide are anything but empty words. Meant to illicit an emotional reaction. Well, my emotions are understandably dulled under the circumstances. Whether or not bibi wants a genocide is, how shall I put it, על הזין שלי. I never voted for him, I'll never vote for him, I don't need to explain myself or defend his government or anything. And I reblogged that post because I agreed with the general message, which, again, I would love to have discussed with you, if you weren't hiding behind a feature that makes it impossible to talk to you without making it fucking public.
