hello! i was one of 10 kids, and the oldest of the 7 who grew up together, what happened to me started when I was 4 and continued until i was 18

During that time, my mother was having children every couple of years, and helping care for my younger siblings became a huge part of my life.

Loving them gave me purpose and something worth staying for. Caring for them helped me focus on something other than what was happening around me.

I worried constantly about protecting them, and I still carry some of that today,

the first 18 years of my life were full of things i’d never choose for anyone else,

but they shaped the person i became.

there are parts of my childhood i wish had never happened,

but erasing them would mean erasing part of myself too.

i can’t forget

as much as I want to.

yet

i’m beyond grateful to be the person i am today,

and I love the wonderful life I’ve had the chance to create
