My goal in life is to be one of those people who are just light. You see them and you suddenly feel so warm inside and all you want to do is hug them. And they look at you and smile with the warmest light in their eyes…. and you love them. maybe not in a romantic way but you just want to be close to them and you hope some of their light transfers onto you.
A NYC grad student working on food stamps for her thesis has released a free cookbook for those living on $4/day.
SIG NAL BOO OO OO OOOST
hello
oooooh this is so nice!
I believe it’s important to eat well, even when you’re strapped for cash. It’s good for your health and energy! This cookbook is full of delicious and healthy recipes, the ingredients of which are fairly inexpensive.
I ACKNOWLEDGE THIS WOMAN AS A FELLOW WARRIOR AND A FANTASTIC HUMAN BEING.
Boost so hard. Feeding yourself well is a challenge when you”ve got little income
I HAVE BEEN USING THIS COOKBOOK FOR MONTHS AND IT’S AMAZING 100/10 RECOMMENDING EVERYWHERE
(just to give you an idea, my food budget is 30 euro/week at most [about $38] and I have to maintain a healthy diet due to weird medication side-effects and yeah, basically this book is a lifesaver if you’re broke but need to watch what you’re eating)
Reblog to save a life. Because it’s easy to find food for $4/day, but most of it tends to be garden variety junkfood
(The pdf is free, I repeat, the pdf is free)
And yeah, even if you’re not going to use 90% of the recipes, it’s always good to have spare recipe reference points. To quote a dear departed Portland television pitchman, “Free is a very good price.”
If you can afford to buy it, I urge you to do so! It’s a great cookbook with great pictures and it’s important to support the author! (If you can!) :)
This is what a real, qualified OBGYN will tell you about what women feel when they get an abortion
Dr. Willie Parker, who is trained as a gynecologist and OBGYN, is a hero for the pro-choice movement because he’s honest about the undiscussed aspects of getting (or not getting) an abortion. Watch how he gives a consultation.
That last statement about regret is so important, because so many people don’t understand what it is or what causes it. Anti-choicers exploit this by manipulating pregnant people and creating doubt, which only increases the likelihood of regret, no matter what decision the pregnant person makes. You know what is best for you, even if it takes some time to figure it out.

Willie Parker is a HERO among common people!
Always reblog.

If the Government Treated Men Like It Treats Women
The quickest way to acquire self-confidence is to do exactly what you’re afraid to do.

Newborn babies are always crying because any discomfort is literally one of the worst things they have ever experienced
7 Tips for Overcoming Feelings of Inadequacy
1. Remind yourself that you are not who other people think or say you are.
2. Remind yourself that everybody makes mistakes at times, has areas of weakness, and things they want to change.
3. Remind yourself of ways in which you’ve grown and changed with time. You’re not who you once were - so celebrate how far you’ve come.
4. Also, the ending isn’t written and the future isn’t fixed. You’re free to change your image, and an old identity.
5. Identify the lies you have believed about yourself – and work on changing them so they’re more accurate and true. Also, don’t reinforce those lies by acting like you think they’re true.
6. Remember that your feelings are not the same as facts. Don’t live based on your feelings … as that will keep you trapped.
7. Hang out with those who see, and who appreciate, your worth. And take their words to heart, and let them help to build you up.
You only have so much emotional energy each day. Don’t fight battles that don’t matter.

What if I'm not smart enough to get into med school? What good is my passion if my intelligence isn't good enough to get me there? :/
I’ve asked the same question before, because I didn’t have perfect grades or a good MCAT. And what I was told, and what I’ve found is best encapsulated by Anthony Bourdain, who wrote in his memoir Kitchen Confidential:
Skills can be taught. Character you either have or you don’t have.
I can teach you to take the MCAT. I can teach you physiology. I can teach you how to do a physical exam.
But I can’t teach you resilience, determination, empathy, humility. I can’t teach you to give a shit. I can’t teach you to be flexible, to be willing to admit wrongs, to work harder.
Medicine is made easier with academic intelligence, sure, but that is actually one of the less important things that makes a good physician.
So that’s my answer.
I needed this today! Thanks :)
