Digital circus' biggest problem is that it was written to be a niche show aimed at weird analytical queers with actual media literacy and it accidentally blew tf up and hit the mainstream and a bunch of people who have never had a second thought about anything got into it
if the only way you can consider a ship worth shipping is for it to be canon, and the only way to consider it canon is a fairy tale happily ever after, then, my friend...you are inevitably going to be disappointed time and again by the art you interact with.
now, you are, of course, welcome to take on the measured risk- you're only breaking your own heart, after all...but you are absolutely unwelcome to use that heartbreak as a cudgel to beat the artist and other fans with.
the healthiest shippers aren't the ones who ship 'happily ever after canon' ships. It's the ones who see the value in all types of relationships and find joy in the experience rather than the destination. in what the artist uses their art to say about life and the human experience of it.
so. miss me with the doom and gloom over your ships not getting the marriage and babies ever after treatment. we are not the same.
went to the theatrical release of The Amazing Digital Circus finale yesterday. and with absolutely no spoilers let me just say-
it was a goddamn work of art. and i 100% believe anyone that actually resonated with the themes at the core of the series and wasn't simply projecting onto certain characters or story elements will, if not enjoy it, find it poetic and satisfying.
personally, i loved it. and just like every other episode so far, the underlying message that 'we make our own meaning' is artfully punctuated with a flourish. the audience, like the characters, gets to decide whether to find joy in it, or to despair.
and i want to be so for real right now- it requires tremendous skill in brevity, intentionality, and clarity of vision to stick the landing like this. Gooseworx, and everyone else on the creative team, have made something technically and artistically brilliant. Something that will speak to audiences for years and years to come.
i hope they're all proud of what they've built. especially since the most vocal part of the online fandom is so eager to tell on themselves as never having understood that art isn't supposed to be made to order.
true art is meant to be shared with an audience, yes, but sometimes that audience is only one: the creator. If you feel betrayed by the direction they took their own artwork in...I would council you to reflect on what that says about you, yourself, rather than writing off the author as having wronged you.
You get good at what you practice. And, in order to develop art appreciation, one must expose themselves to actual art and not simply content subject to the whims and preferences of the audience.
TL;DR: the finale was good actually, the fandom just doesn't know how to interact with anything but cookie cutter slop. same as ever.
the among us show being a total gorefest on par with john carpenter's the thing is a really fun choice
the among us show having a gay orgy in the middle of it is another really fun choice
realizing many people don't know about infinity train creator owen dennis' among us show from years ago, which has been trapped in unreleased limbo all this time and was just dumped on streaming this morning with no advertisement. they don't even know about its weirdly stacked cast

i love when tragedies are like: ↳ eli & cornelia in the english
This is.....niche. Do period-appropriate chickens even still exist? Idk anything about chickens. I like the fancy ones.
Period appropriate chickens ("heritage breeds") do still exist, and even include some very fancy ladies, such as:
The Brahma, a popular giant known for its massive meat production and comically large eggs.
The cochin, seen here with gold and black 'lace' pattern
The barred plymouth, an incredible forager for lightly wooded terrain
The fayoumi, often regarded as The Oldest Breed of chicken
The wyandotte, a particularly good forager as well as a bulky, meaty bird.
The Minorca, a Spanish bird with stunning black feathers
And of course, the famous indonesian ayam cemani, which has black meat and bones
Old timey chickens often ARE the 'fancy' ones!
I love this incredibly niche complaint! Get some heritage breeds, they do totally still exist. Same could likely be said about some other animals like pigs, sheep, and cows.

My toxic trait is that I consume so much content of a ship that I convince myself it's already canon
Turns out this is one of the great secrets to a happy life. You literally get to control the version of the characters and story that lives in your head. And for free!
Fandom used to be more in tune with that. I’m not sure when it switched and suddenly everyone needed permission from the creator in the form of the story going exactly how they wanted in order to continue shipping something.
Fuck em, babes. Make up the story in your head and move forward. Chances are good if you write it down and share it, other people out there will vibe with it too.
Thought crimes are not real. Nobody can force you to accept canon as the end of things. And the block button is still your best friend.
Cheers~
💐🌸💐🌸Another Charlastor pic because I adore this pairing soooo flipping much!

self-awareness check, list five things you like that aren't media pieces in the tags now ‼️
When writing the first draft, don’t be a storyteller. Be an intrepid explorer, discovering what cannot be seen from the mouth of the cave.
OKAY SO THIS IS ACTUALLY THE BEST ADVICE I COULD GIVE SOMEONE ABOUT A FIRST DRAFT.
