Headcannons

• At first, Will would be completely stunned, genuinely speechless. He grew up hearing stories about mermaids, but never actually believed them

• You’d occasionally surface beside the ship at night, and Will would quietly sit on the edge of the deck talking to you while everyone else slept

• He’d be extremely protective once he realized other sailors might hurt or capture you

• If you lived in the sea, he’d constantly be torn between wanting to stay with you and knowing he couldn’t exactly breathe underwater (lol)

• He’d trust you when you warned him about how dangerous the waters could be, even if the rest of the crew thought he was crazy

• You’d bring him little things from the ocean like pretty shells, pieces of coral, old coins that you’d found near wrecks and he’d treasure every single one (jack called him a lunatic)

• You’d swim underneath his boat and gently bump it just to make him think something was attacking him

“Was that you?”

silence.

“I know that was you y/n.”

• Will would be really fascinated by your tail, especially since he’d never seen anything like it before. He’d probably ask questions about how it works and how quickly you can swim

• you loved blowing kissy bubbles from under the water to get his attention

• the crew thought he was crazy saying things like…

- “why is that turner boy always looking in the water”

• he would be a little jealous, especially if you were a siren and lured sailors in with your voice (tell me if you’d like me to touch more on this in my next one)

• when you went onto land or a ship he would help you dry off as fast as possible so nobody you wouldn’t get caught

• he’d be fascinated by how majestic you looked in the water, especially when the light hits your tail and how your hair glides through the water

• If you were able to change your tail’s appearance depending on your mood or surroundings, you would try to keep it a secret but will would eventually learn what all the little changes meant (but keep his understandings to himself)

(if you were the princess/governors daughter)

• he’d try his best to not have a big reaction when finding out your a mermaid since your royalty he doesn’t want to disrespect you

• since you grew up with will he finally understands why you didn’t like the ocean, he assumed it was because you didn’t like pirates (or because your mother died at sea)

• If you had to suddenly disappear during a royal event because you needed to touch the ocean/water after a certain period, will would quietly cover for you

• in my head cannon, water doesn’t mean you transform, instead its a mental switch that transforms you from human to mermaid (just an fyi)

• he’d always knew you were sensitive to fire, so when ever you snuck out of the castle to visit him at the forge (forge = were blacksmiths work at btw <3 ) he’d always make sure you had a distance from the flames saying, “this is no place for you miss”
