She was going to clean the room and leave without saying a word - the guest was on the phone anyway, she wasn’t going to interrupt them. But even if they weren’t, what was she going to say? They had caught her trying on the coat of a rich guest and they hadn’t reported, or even threatened her. It had been a painfully awkward (and even somewhat humiliating) moment, it was for the best that she just forget it. She had just fixed the pillows on the bed and was getting ready to leave the room when the person walked past her – they weren’t on the phone anymore. Keeping her head down, Gwendolyn started walking towards the door… but stopped in the hallway. She should say something, right? Turning around, she locked her fingers in front of her body, palm to palm. “I just want to say thank you….” She paused for as second as she felt anxiety beginning to creep up on her, but she had started now, she needed to finish her sentence. “.. for what you did the other day.”
Joe’s phone pressed into his cheek, voice hushed as conversation was slipped between the two. Dark hues aimlessly concentrated on the carpet he stood on, cane in one hand and phone held by the other. He barely paid mind to the maid that straightened the bed, but she was familiar -- in the sense he’d seen her try on a coat. A rather nice one, it swallowed her it seemed but what harm was there in trying on a coat? He himself had seen much more diabolical things, which aided in him keeping his mouth shut about reporting her. After a few spared moments of listening, Joe ended the call. Phone slipping back into the pocket of his slacks, tall frame moved past her. He wasn't going to address earlier, there wasn't much of a point to him. It was when she spoke did he pause in his stride, frame turning to look back at her brow slightly raised in a curious manner. As she spoke he faced her completely, one hand resting upon the top of his cane the other in his pocket. His lips part for a moment as he shakes his head ever so slightly, “No reason to thank me, I didn't see any harm in what happened -- just be more careful alright?” He remarks before motioning behind her toward the hall, “Others would have you strung up for something like that.”
