Isla de Chiloé, Chile After 33 hours aboard a cargo tanker... We arrived to the island of Chiloé... Home of penguins, the smallest deer in the world, blue whales, beautiful wool yarn, oysters, lots and lots of seafood, and +90% of the worlds genetic diversity in potatoes. We did our best to eat as much seafood as possible... The regional dish is a bowl of mixed seafood stew called Curanto. Amazing. Unfortunately penguins and whales were gone for the season... And no puma... Boooo.

Fitz Roy, Patagonia, Argentina Slurping icy water straight from the glacial snow melt off Fitz Roy... (Imagine a world where the water everywhere was clean enough to drink straight from the source... as our ancestors did.) Skipping perfect smooth stones across the high mountain lakes... (Every kid's or adults dream!) Viewing the breathtaking Fits Roy... (They are more magnificent than one can imagine!)

Torres del Paine, Patagonia, Chile Life's dream of walking the famous Torres (towers), breathing fresh clean air, enjoying the autumn colors, warm days and cold nights, sipping clean cold water directly from the streams. Lollapalooza, Buenos Aires, Argentina Two days of music... Chili Peppers being the highlight... Thousands of people... Oddly a dry event... Except the press tent... Lucky David and Liam worked some magic, so we watched the show from the press box, free drinks in hand.

Back to Buenos Aires, Argentina Ice cream, high tea, steak, wine, pastries, steak sandwiches, wine, and TANGO!

Mendoza, Argentina Famous for its delicious (cheap!) wines, we wined and dined Mendoza! A few hours outside wine country we walked in the impressive Andes, saw some Inca ruins built upon a limestone hot spring and spotted packs of wild llamas. A packed 3-day trip led to the inevitable airport nap.

Colonia, Uruguay Just an hour boat ride from the bustle of Buenos Aires lies the peaceful town of Colonia in Uruguay. Driving the yellow-submarine down cobble stone, tree lined streets. Vineyards as far as the eye can see. Friendly country dogs. Time for yoga, music and fun with shadows. A lovely pause for family time fun.

Beautiful blue skies, delicious (and cheap) wine and the famous argentine meat… Ferias full of antiques and handcrafts, coffee always accompanied with a sweet treat and sparkling water, and the legacy of Evita!

From lichens (make greens/grays) to cochinilla (beetles ground into powder to make magnificent red, purple, orange tints) to berries (create blues/pinks and more) to pods/seeds (produce yellows/browns/greens), weavers create natural dyes to tint hand-spun yarns to transform into unbelievably gorgeous textiles. Incredible!
