in my brain (based kind of how the firbolgs in cr are described at fuzzy + just headcanon) he has fur but its not like a thick coat, its more fine. and getting a tattoo he'd just shave the section like how you do it for regular tattoo , and when his fur grows back you can see it under the fur especially bc his fur is paler. maybe it wouldnt work so well if a firbolg had thicker or darker fur
