holy fuck turns out Frozen Plasma's "Age After Age" has lyrics pretty directly copied from Langston Hughes' poem "Dreams"

#just found that poem and had such a wtf moment #this is after reading my son the hobbit and realizing their song “a second of life” copies lyrics from one of the riddles #man that's wild #age after age is one of my favorite songs #and I love langston hughes' work #but I'm not sure how I feel about artists so clearly copying other artists without attribution #the longest johns put alfred lord tennyson's “crossing the bar” to music but I believe they made the attribution clear #I like recognizing where an influence is from but in this case it's copied so directly that I feel it warrants attribution

#god. can I just. get real emotional on this blog that hardly anyone looks at for a second.#I first got this album when I was severely depressed #this is an extremely bad album to get when severely depressed. most of the songs are far too heavy #it feels much heavier than the rest of his work. not sure if that's just because of my mental state at the time or what #but at some point I was listening to it in my car and some song on this album made me have a full fucking spiral #so I decided to put it away until I was better #that was...
