All that does is let other people…who may hate you and want you dead…decide your future for you.

No one gives a shit if you didn’t vote as a protest. It accomplished nothing except to further the interests of the people who hate me and folks like me. Not voting isn’t powerful; it’s rejecting a civic duty that people fought and died for and saying ‘well I don’t care.’

Lol, no, that’s not how it works! Instead, the people who do vote–the ones with easy access and/or a monetary incentive to vote– get to decide who’s going into office even though they’re not an accurate representation of the people overall.

 If you and five of your friends don’t vote, all six of you are worth less than Jeff Bezos getting paid a trillion dollars a second while voting.

June Egbert is the only tag I have ever blocked on tumblr, ever. As a prefice to this rant i guess.

I have never liked the headcanon and I find it offensive because it predominantly rose in popularity following the release of the snapchat updates in which John is shown depressed by his lack of interest in, well, anything. Everyone else just got on with their lives after the events of Sburb/Sgrub but he's just. Not. And I think this was such an appropriate ending for this character as he was so heavily tied into the narrative of Homestuck as a main actor of events, but never the director. People told John what to do. Every big thing he did was an instruction from either Karkat, Rose, Terezi, or Vriska. So at the end of the story he's lost because no one is giving the directions he needs. Its an ending foil imo that was done very smartly and well.

And the fandom didn't like this. They didn't like how clever Hussie was in his character development of John and they didn't like how he was sad at the end of Homestuck.

So they made a trans headcanon. And that's what fixed them.

You can debate all you want against me that it wasn't for these reasons or other bullshit but this was my personal interaction with June Egbert in relationship with the fandom and the narrative. And it pissed me off. It felt like putting an inappropriate bandaid on something that didn't need it. Not only tone deaf but also kind of assumptive that just making the character trans would "fix" them.
