Random question for Queenâs Thief fans (which Iâm sure I could find the answer to by googling, but Iâm feeling lazy): Which editions have the bonus short stories in them? I seem to remember itâs a paperback, but since I think some of them might have had multiple paperback editions I want to be sure. (Iâm thinking of adding them to the âthings my family can get me for Christmas if theyâre not sure what else to getâ list, but I want to make sure I request the right ones!

I got my brother hooked on the series years ago. Heâs the current DM for his friendsâ D&D group, and wants to run a campaign loosely based on The Thief.Â

I have a confession to make. The first time I read The Queen of Attolia, I didnât know what a philanderer was, but I recognized the first part of the word âphilanâ from the word âphilanthropyâ so when Therespides catches Eddis sneaking to Genâs library, I wasnât sure what the scandalous part was. I just thought heâd assume Eddis was being charitable or something.

Philanthropist- someone who loves man(kind).
The root âphiloâ means to love, and is found in many words. Fun fact, the roots for philosophy are philo and sophos. So, youâre literally saying, love of wisdom or I â¤ď¸ Sophos.

Actually, yes. The -logos root means reason. Someone on Sounis, who actually studied Greek (unlike me), told me that Philonikes means love of victory. Who knew there was so much love in this series? đ
Attolia Irene, from Megan Whalen Turnerâs The Queenâs Thief series
(Iâm applying what I learned last month! This is entirely from my imagination (though I used last monthâs Sara Bareilles drawing for anatomy reference of what this pose looks like), and fueled by my never-ending obsession with The Queenâs Thief books. I re-read Thick as Thieves yesterday and I may go back and re-read the rest of the series for the millionth time.
Generally Iâm super pleased with this! This is a marked improvement over the last time I drew Attolia, about a year or so ago:
To be fair, Iâm also using a more realistic style now, which I wasnât comfortable with before my month-long face drawing experiment. And while Iâm going to pretend that the black-and-white-with-color-accents is a design choice, it was mostly because I donât know how to shade with colored pencils, so Iâm taking baby steps for now.)
You got the one eyebrow lift perfect! I love the shading and the red highlights.
