Watching Wally snag a menu, he let his eyes glide over it for a few minutes as he mulled over what he had said. It was true, out of the pair of them Wally seemed more likely to settle down. Artemis and Wally and maybe even a few kids. He could see that for them because they got out of the life once - it wouldn’t be easy to do it a second time but they had already proven it to themselves once.

Scoffing, perhaps a bit too much, Dick selected the item he wanted and closed the menu to wait for the waitress. “Right, and you would know my type how? How am I blind? Last time I checked, you said you didn’t know her that well so maybe you’re blind.” Dick grinned, slightly at the jab about him and Artemis, signaling for the waitress they were ready. “Yes, it was. I was about to ask you before New Years how long you two needed in a room alone.”

The brunette waitress came to the table, book in hand. She was pretty, about their age and obviously didn’t see many young diners by the way she had fixed herself up behind the counter a few minutes ago. “What can I get you boys?” She asked.

“I’ll have a burger and shake please.” Dick replied, looking to his best friend who would most assuredly eat the rest of the food the diner had.

Wally put down his menu, putting his elbows on the table and his hands out in front of him. “One,” he started, counting his fingers in front of Dick to make his point. “I’m your best friend, you know, so that means I definitely know your type, even if you don’t think so. Two, you have to be, because she is most definitely giving you some hints you aren’t seeing. Three, I know her well enough, and Artemis knows her well enough, and if both of us can see it, it’s probably true.” It was the one thing they would bring up time to time before he had disappeared. He was sure things wouldn’t have changed by then right?

Wally smiled at the waitress. This was one of his favourite parts. “I’ll have two burger, ribs, the breakfast platter for two, extra fries and a shake as well.” he said, handing the menus back to the waitress. “Do you want me to repeat any of that?” he asked. The waitress was obviously a little flustered by his large order. “No dear, I think I have everything.” she said, turning around and heading straight to the kitchen. Wally chuckled, leaning back into his seat. “I enjoy that too much.”

Again, Wally had him there. He was his best friend so he did know his type: blondes, brunettes, redheads, pretty much anything of the opposite sex - at least in appearance. personality, Dick had always been attracted to the strong, independent type. He couldn’t exactly explain why, but Wally knew it.

When Wally had... “been away”, things had changed between him and Babs, only that he didn’t see her anymore and she constantly tried checking in on him. “She hasn’t been giving me any “signs” Wally, at least -”

Shit.

Hoping he was a bit distracted with the order, he watched the waitress hurry to right down the order, no longer the smiley brunette that had come to their table a few moments ago. Shaking his head as the actress walked back to the kitchen, he took a sip of the water on his table. “I know you do, and I have no idea how Artemis never hit you over the head for it.”
