Summary: Conrad misses date night.

Author’s Note: So there’s this one scene (sorry about the quality) that I found hilarious, and I thought about it when I saw the prompt.

Pre-series! In which Conrad and Nic date secretly, hiding their relationship from Chastain and everyone else. They just don’t know if it’s made to last, and they’re scared to want something permanent with a temporary person.

Conrad’s kissing her across a white tablecloth and a glass of wine. “You look really nice tonight,” he murmurs, wiping her pink lipstick off his mouth with a napkin.

“You already said that.” She doesn’t mind hearing it again, taking another slow sip of her drink before reapplying her makeup. “I gotta tell you, this shade compliments your eyes.” A gesture to the napkin does everything it needs.

“Oh, yeah, that’s the only reason I kissed you. Wanted a free sample.”

“Guess I better wear it all the time, then.” Nic smirks. She’s flushed, one ear tinted red and the other pale. Asymmetrical blushing, she says, is a virtue, and a rare one at that. She flicks hair over her ears so it isn’t quite so obvious.
